Gun seized after Katrina?
Gun seized after Katrina - Target - the law abiding citizen (easy targets): It's about the Bill of Rights.
Benazir Bhutto
A recent CNN poll showed that 46 percent of Pakistanis approve of Osama bin Laden.
Aspirants to the American presidency should hope to score so highly in the United States. In Pakistan, though, the al-Qaeda emir easily beat out that countryÃÔ current president, Pervez Musharraf, who polled at 38 percent.
President George Bush, the face of a campaign to bring democracy or, at least, some form of sharia-lite that might pass for democracy to the Islamic world, registered nine percent. Nine!
...
But we should at least stop fooling ourselves. Jihadists are not going to be wished away, rule-of-lawed into submission, or democratized out of existence. If you really want democracy and the rule of law in places like Pakistan, you need to kill the jihadists first. Or theyÃÍl kill you, just like, today, they killed Benazir Bhutto.
FBI planned mass arrests in 1950
Former FBI director J Edgar Hoover had a plan to arrest 12,000 Americans he deemed a possible threat to national security, declassified papers reveal.
The FBI chief sent his proposal to US President Harry Truman just after the start of the Korean War in 1950, The New York Times newspaper reports.
He asked the president to declare the mass arrest necessary to counter "treason, espionage and sabotage".
There is no evidence any part of the plan was ever approved.
Mr Hoover wanted the president to suspend the centuries-old legal right of habeas corpus, which protects individuals against unlawful arrest.
The FBI director planned to detain the suspects - whose list of names he had been compiling for years - in US military and federal prisons.
"The index now contains approximately 12,000 individuals, of which approximately 97% are citizens of the United States," wrote Mr Hoover, in the now declassified document.
The New York Times gave no details about the identities of those targeted.
The US Department of State declassified the plan, along with other Cold War-era documents from 1950-55 this week.
Gun owners 'get stabbed in back'
Congress has given gun owners in America a Christmas gift: a blade in the back, according to officials with Gun Owners of America.
The organization said the plan supported by Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and others, and known as the Veterans Disarmament Act by opponents, is being forwarded now to President Bush.
While other gun groups have endorsed H.R. 2640, a comprehensive plan to expand the powers of the Brady Bill gun restriction plan, Gun Owners of America has opposed it vigorously, and described its provisions for banning individuals, especially veterans, from owning guns as unreasonable.
"The core of the bill's problems is section 101(c)(1)(C), which makes you a 'prohibited person' on the basis of a 'medical finding of disability,' so long as a veteran had an 'opportunity' for some sort of 'hearing' before some 'lawful authority' (other than a court)," the organization said in a new criticism of the plan. "Presumably, this 'lawful authority' could even be the psychiatrist himself," the organization said.

Sleeping With The Enemy
The National Rifle Association has done it.
Again.
Having advertised itself for more than a century as the nation's foremost defender of the Second Amendment, the NRA has once again given aid and comfort to politicians -- all of the "usual suspects": Carolyn McCarthy, Charles Schumer, Patrick Leahy, Harry Reid, and that perennial Judas goat John Dingell -- as well as to pressure groups like the Brady Campaign, who are determined to destroy that right, by assisting passage of a law with the potential to strip hundreds of thousands of military veterans of their basic right to own and carry weapons.
This latest slap in the gun owner's face by the overstuffed suits at the NRA -- the same gang who eagerly signed off on the Gun Control Act of 1968, despite its origins in Hitler's Germany -- establishes the "principle" that individuals with the slightest of mental health "problem" (anyone, for instance, who ever sought professional help for mild depression or difficulty sleeping) have no inalienable right to self-defense.
(For more information on the Nazi roots of the 1968 Gun Control Act, be sure to see Gun Control: Gateway to Tyranny, available at: http://shop.jpfo.org/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=24)
For politicians, it's a payoff: precisely the response they wished for, to the latest series of what more and more observers now believe (however reluctantly) are purposely contrived incidents in which armed criminals feel free to attack crowds of people they know are unarmed and helpless because the law -- and some corporate policies -- demand it.
For the psychiatric profession, it enshrines their practitioners as powerful arbiters of who may or may not exercise their individual rights.
For America's gun owners, it's just another aspect of the long, continuous, cruel hoax perpetrated by the NRA, which collects millions of dollars in membership money under the false pretense of defending rights that they have proven willing to bargain away on the slightest excuse.
In doing so, they have empowered the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives to commit larger and more frequent atrocities of the kind we've become so familiar with over the years. Given past behavior, it would not be above them to pay informants, including those psychiatrists, who will attest to anybody's mental instability, trusting to the increasingly crooked court system to back the Bureau up.
(To learn more about BATFE history, strategy, and tactics, see the JPFO documentary The Gang. Go to: http://www.TheGangMovie.com )
Don't let the NRA suits put a fancy spin on it, it's really very straightforward: first, there was no extra gun law; then there was one -- thanks to the NRA. The last thing this country needs is another gun law. It already has 25,000. It needs to start repealing them. All of them.
There's no way to avoid a simple but apalling truth: the NRA's crawling into bed with the Brady Campaign is exactly like the Anti-Defamation League endorsing the American Nazi Party, unthinkable, unspeakable, and disgusting. And, given the vital role that privately owned arms have played historically and currently in reducing violent crime and deterring foreign aggression, it is probably treason, as well.
Weak, submissive behavior of this kind is not the way for Second Amendment defenders to enter an era of liberal Democratic political dominance.
Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership calls upon NRA President John C. Sigler, Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre, Executive Director of the NRA Institute for Legislative Action Chris W. Cox (and any of the 75-member board of directors who approves their reprehensible actions) to resign their positions, forfeiting all pensions or "golden parachutes". Not for the first time, by helping to pass yet another infringement of our rights, these people have brought shame upon themselves, their organization, on gun owners everywhere, and especially their country and the Constitution that is its highest law.

FBI Prepares Vast Database Of Biometrics
CLARKSBURG, W. Va. -- The FBI is embarking on a $1 billion effort to build the world's largest computer database of peoples' physical characteristics, a project that would give the government unprecedented abilities to identify individuals in the United States and abroad.
Digital images of faces, fingerprints and palm patterns are already flowing into FBI systems in a climate-controlled, secure basement here. Next month, the FBI intends to award a 10-year contract that would significantly expand the amount and kinds of biometric information it receives. And in the coming years, law enforcement authorities around the world will be able to rely on iris patterns, face-shape data, scars and perhaps even the unique ways people walk and talk, to solve crimes and identify criminals and terrorists. The FBI will also retain, upon request by employers, the fingerprints of employees who have undergone criminal background checks so the employers can be notified if employees have brushes with the law.
"Bigger. Faster. Better. That's the bottom line," said Thomas E. Bush III, assistant director of the FBI's Criminal Justice Information Services Division, which operates the database from its headquarters in the Appalachian foothills.
The increasing use of biometrics for identification is raising questions about the ability of Americans to avoid unwanted scrutiny. It is drawing criticism from those who worry that people's bodies will become de facto national identification cards. Critics say that such government initiatives should not proceed without proof that the technology really can pick a criminal out of a crowd....
THE NORTH AMERICAN UNION AND THE LARGER PLAN
In order to bring about a North American Union (NAU), the public first has to be conditioned to think of themselves as North Americans. In that regard, Thomas Donohue (president and CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce) on June 16, 2006 remarked that "for CEOs, North America is already a single market, and business decisions are no longer made with a Mexico strategy---or a Canada strategy---but, rather, with a North American strategy....I think it's pretty clear now that it no longer makes sense to talk about U.S. competitiveness and Mexican competitiveness---or, for that matter, about the competitiveness of Canada. We are all in this together---we, as North Americans."

Gun Owners Get Stabbed In The Back

"To me, this is the best Christmas present I could ever receive" --
Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY), CBS News, December 20, 2007
------------------------------------------------------------------
Thursday, December 20, 2007
Gun Owners of America and its supporters took a knife in the back
yesterday, as Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) out-smarted his
congressional opposition into agreeing on a so-called
"compromise" on
HR 2640 -- a bill which now goes to the President's desk.
The bill -- known as the Veterans Disarmament Act to its opponents --
is being praised by the National Rifle Association and the Brady
Campaign.
The Brady Bunch crowed "Victory! U.S. Congress Strengthens Brady
Background Check System." The NRA stated that last minute changes to
the McCarthy bill made a "good bill even better [and that] the end
product is a win for American gun owners."
But Gun Owners of America has issued public statements decrying this
legislation.
The core of the bill's problems is section 101(c)(1)(C), which makes
you a "prohibited person" on the basis of a "medical
finding of
disability," so long as a veteran had an "opportunity"
for some sort
of "hearing" before some "lawful authority" (other
than a court).
Presumably, this "lawful authority" could even be the psychiatrist
himself.
Note that unlike with an accused murderer, the hearing doesn't have
to occur. The "lawful authority" doesn't have to be unbiased. The
veteran is not necessarily entitled to an attorney -- much less an
attorney financed by the government.
So what do the proponents have to say about this?
ARGUMENT: The Veterans Disarmament Act creates new avenues for
prohibited persons to seek restoration of their gun rights.
ANSWER: What the bill does is to lock in -- statutorily -- huge
numbers of additional law-abiding Americans who will now be denied
the right to own a firearm.
And then it "graciously" allows these newly disarmed Americans to
spend tens of thousands of dollars for a long-shot chance to regain
the gun rights this very bill takes away from them.
More to the point, what minimal gains were granted by the "right
hand" are taken away by the "left." Section 105 provides
a process
for some Americans diagnosed with so-called mental disabilities to
get their rights restored in the state where they live. But then, in
subsection (a)(2), the bill stipulates that such relief may occur
only if "the person will not be likely to act in a manner dangerous
to public safety and that the GRANTING OF THE RELIEF WOULD NOT BE
CONTRARY TO THE PUBLIC INTEREST." (Emphasis added.)
Um, doesn't this language sound similar to those state codes (like
California's) that have "may issue" concealed carry laws -- where
citizens "technically" have the right to carry, but state law only
says that sheriffs MAY ISSUE them a permit to carry? When given such
leeway, those sheriffs usually don't grant the permits!
Prediction: liberal states -- the same states that took these
people's rights away -- will treat almost every person who has been
illegitimately denied as a danger to society and claim that granting
relief would be "contrary to the public interest."
Let's make one thing clear: the efforts begun during the Clinton
Presidency to disarm battle-scarred veterans -- promoted by the Brady
Anti-Gun Campaign -- is illegal and morally reprehensible.
But section 101(c)(1)(C) of HR 2640 would rubber-stamp those illegal
actions. Over 140,000 law-abiding veterans would be statutorily
barred from possessing firearms.
True, they can hire a lawyer and beg the agency that took their
rights away to voluntarily give them back. But the agency doesn't
have to do anything but sit on its hands. And, after 365 days of
inaction, guess what happens? The newly disarmed veteran can spend
thousands of additional dollars to sue. And, as the plaintiff, the
wrongly disarmed veteran has the burden of proof.
Language proposed by GOA would have automatically restored a
veteran's gun rights if the agency sat on its hands for a year.
Unfortunately, the GOA amendment was not included.
The Veterans Disarmament Act passed the Senate and the House
yesterday -- both times WITHOUT A RECORDED VOTE. That is, the bill
passed by Unanimous Consent, and was then transmitted to the White
House.
Long-time GOA activists will remember that a similar "compromise"
deal helped the original Brady Law get passed. In 1993, there were
only two or three senators on the floor of that chamber who used a
Unanimous Consent agreement (with no recorded vote) to send the Brady
bill to President Clinton -- at a time when most legislators had
already left town for their Thanksgiving Break.
Gun owners can go to http://www.gunowners.org/news/nws9402.htm to
read about how this betrayal occurred 14 years ago.
With your help, Gun Owners of America has done a yeoman's job of
fighting gun control over the years, considering the limited
resources that we have. Together, we were able to buck the Brady
Campaign/NRA coalition in 1999 (after the Columbine massacre) and
were able to defeat the gun control that was proposed in the wake of
that shooting.
Yesterday, we were not so lucky. But we are not going to go away.
GOA wants to repeal the gun-free zones that disarm law-abiding
Americans and repeal the other gun restrictions that are on the
books. That is the answer to Virginia Tech. Unfortunately, the
House and Senate chose the path of imposing more gun control.
So our appeal to you is this -- please help us to grow this coming
year. Please help us to get more members and activists. If you add
$10 to your membership renewal this year, we can reach new gun owners
in the mail and tell them about GOA.
Please urge your friends to join GOA... and, at the very least, make
sure they sign up for our free e-mail alerts so that we can mobilize
more gun owners than ever before!

'Mosque' uncovered on college campus
A Minnesota community college has "a Muslim place of worship" featuring "a schedule for Islam's five daily prayers," according to a local newspaper columnist who visited the campus.
Tax-supported Normandale Community College in Bloomington, Minn., also has a "sign requesting that shoes be removed" and a barrier that divides men's and women's "prayer spaces," writes Katherine Kersten of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Katherine Kersten: Normandale's 'meditation room' is home to a single faith
By Katherine Kersten, Star Tribune
Last week, I visited a Muslim place of worship. A schedule for Islam's five daily prayers was posted at the entrance, near a sign requesting that shoes be removed. Inside, a barrier divided men's and women's prayer space, an arrow informed worshippers of the direction of Mecca, and literature urged women to cover their faces.
Sound like a mosque?
The place I'm describing is the "meditation room" at Normandale Community College, a 9,200-student public institution in Bloomington.
Until recently, the room was the school's only usable racquetball court. College administrators converted the court into a meditation room when construction forced closure of the previous meditation room.
A row of chest-high barriers splits the room into sex-segregated sections. In the smaller, enclosed area for women sits a pile of shawls and head-coverings. Literature titled "Hijaab [covering] and Modesty" was prominently placed there, instructing women on proper Islamic behavior.
They should cover their faces and stay at home, it said, and their speech should not "be such that it is heard."
"Enter into Islaam completely and accept all the rulings of Islaam," the tract read in part. "It should not be that you accept what entertains your desires and leave what opposes your desires; this is from the manners of the Jews."
"[T]he Jews and the Christians" are described as "the enemies of Allaah's religion." The document adds: "Remember that you will never succeed while you follow these people."

An Open Letter to the People of America
From Aaron Zelman, Executive Director Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership www.JPFO.org
Dear friends, neighbors, and fellow citizens:
Most of us remember vividly the way that an entire church full of people, including more than two dozen children, were burned to death in 1993, or died in other ways, while under seige by the Federal Bureaus of Investigation, and Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
In the wake of that and many other BATFE abuses of the unalienable individual, civil, Constitutional, and human rights, in essence, of every man, woman, and responsible child in America, Congress has rebuked this rogue agency often, and often, reforms of various kinds have been promised. Yet somehow, these reforms never quite seem to materialize.
For the past year, for example, a man named Michael Sullivan has been Acting Director of the BATFE, and has made no effort to curb its abuses. Indeed, he has promised to "work with" notorious anti-Second Amendment politicians like Senator Edward M. Kennedy on "gun control" issues.
Judges are complaining of sloppy briefs and missed deadlines in Sullivan's office, but the situation is vastly darker than that. U.S. District Court Judge Mark Wolf, to name just one example, castigated Sullivan recently for tying up the courts with penny-ante street-crime cases.
Unimaginably worse, U.S. District Court Judge William Young has hammered Sullivan's office for evincing "a moral code more suited to the alleys of Baghdad than the streets of Boston" and for adopting a mindset that "reveals such callous indifference to innocent human life as would gag any fair-minded observer." One can't help thinking about Waco.
Sullivan has often stated with typical arrogance, that he doesn't care if he annoys judges. By his reckoning, the more cases one has gotten to trial, the more successful one has been, so he just keeps on pushing more and more cases through each year, in the process racking up some of the longest average sentences of any U.S. attorney in the country.
These days, that's regarded as a good thing.
Go to: http://preview.tinyurl.com/yo8zfb or for full url for direct access ..........
http://www.bostonmagazine.com/articles/maximum_mike_goes_to_washington/
In at least one recent case, when a licensed firearms dealer contacted Sullivan regarding BATFE management practices, the Acting Director responded by sending a pair of armed inspectors to do a "thorough inspection" of the man's records. Even if this inspection had been a legitimate operation, rather than the fascistic retaliatory exercise that it apparently was, inspectors are not supposed to be armed.
Except, of course, as a naked, brutal, authoritarian threat.
Acting Director Sullivan has been fully aware, since taking over at BATFE, of the bureau's use of illegitimate evidence on a scale that surpasses even the bullet-testing and DNA scandals of the FBI, yet he continues to countenance these corrupt practices. Is this what "working with Kennedy on gun control issues" consists of? How can a citizen conform his behavior with the law when no objective test standards exist to see if non-conformance with the law has actually occurred?
Sullivan has also continued a Clinton-era policy of eliminating as many firearms dealers and manufacturers from the rolls of federal licensees as possible. Confronted with the number of dealers being shut down in this manner, he stated, "There is no correlation between the dramatic decrease of nearly 150,000 licensees, and BATFE revocation actions." This, despite the fact that revocations are up nearly six-fold from the 2001 to 2006 period, according to the March/April 2007 issue of Shooting Sports Retailer magazine, page 19.
Meanwhile, Sullivan has ignored requests from Congress and the Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General to implement fines and suspensions, rather than just revoking dealers licenses outright.
Why should anyone -- especially members of the non-shooting public -- be concerned over this? Because, as more and more individuals have armed themselves and taken to carrying concealed weapons over the past 30 years or so, America's violent crime rate has plummeted. This means that those individuals who do carry weapons -- as well as those who provide them -- are "net social benefactors". Shutting down firearms dealers is exactly like machinegunning firefighters or paramedics -- a stupid, evil, insane, and antisocial policy, being carried out in your name.
And at your expense.
Sullivan -- who has also been criticized by judges for "going for the jugular" as a U.S. Attorney to establish his career, rather than take plea bargains to avoid tying up the courts and wasting the taxpayers' money in the process -- now continues an old police state tradition by disobeying court orders to return confiscated property and ignoring recurring requests to speak with him about that and other issues.
Here at JPFO, we're curious. Is the head of BATFE fully aware of the Nazi origins of the principal law he is enforcing, and under the aegis of which, he justifies the excesses of his agency, the Gun Control Act of 1968 -- rammed through Congress with the help of the mass media by the corrupt and discredited Senator Thomas Dodd? Does Sullivan approve of that law -- and its origins -- or will he announce an investigation into the sleazy details and circumstances of its passage?
Three guesses and the first two don't count.
Perhaps worst of all, while Sullivan tells representatives of groups like the National Rifle Association one thing -- recently that he would not share "trace request data" with other individuals and agencies -- at the same time, he tells known enemies of the right to keep and bear arms, like Senator Charles Schumer, "I'm optimistic that there will be even more information available than provided in the past."
Even one of the man's former colleages says about him, "If anything ever happens that requires leadership at the BATFE, and Mike Sullivan is at the helm, it's going to be a sad day." A sad day, indeed.
Now, Sullivan's nomination -- by supposedly "gun-friendly" George W. Bush -- to a permanent appointment as the head of the BATFE, is up for U.S. Senate consideration. We are extremely fortunate, thus far, that it has been put on temporary hold by one courageous Senator, but pressure is mounting for him to relent, and to permit the nomination to proceed. Believe it or not, Jews of the Preservation of Firearms Ownership is forbidden by law from suggesting what you should do about this.
It is more than a little ironic that while the government claims to be protecting Americans from terrorists and something they call "Islamofascism" -- significantly, by increasingly curtailing our individual rights and civil liberties -- it is subjecting all of us, through individuals like Michael Sullivan and through agencies like the BATFE, to state terrorism and fascism entirely of the homegrown variety.
When you have to ask yourself who's the greater threat to life, liberty, and property, Al Qaeda or your own government, things are a mess.
Sincerely,
Aaron Zelman Executive Director Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership www.JPFO.org

New life starts for prosecuted Border Patrol agent
Former Border Patrol agent Gary Brugman has begun a new life as the owner of a new MATCO Tools franchise, following a 24-month sentence in federal prison for a minor scuffle with an illegal alien at the U.S. border in January 2001, an offense for which he was prosecuted by U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton.
"For many years after what happened to me, I lost faith in the United States of America," Brugman told WND.
"But today is a whole new day for me," he continued. "I now realize that when you say the United States of America, you don't mean the government. The United States of America is 'We the People.'"
"I would not be sitting here today in the cab of this truck in my new business if it weren't for the people," Brugman said.

More Blood On Hands of 'Gun Free Zones' Extremists at Omaha Mall, Says CCRKBA
BELLEVUE, Wash., Dec. 6 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Eight more innocent
Americans have been sacrificed on the altar of political correctness at
Omaha's Westroads Mall this week, and the Citizens Committee for the Right to
Keep and Bear Arms said today that the real outrage of this crime is that it
happened in a "gun free zone" where law-abiding private citizens are disarmed
by mall rules and state statute.
"In the wake of this horrible crime," said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb, "gun
control extremists are already demanding more useless gun control legislation.
A prohibition on firearms at Westroads Mall did not stop Robert Hawkins, but
it did give him a risk-free environment in which to unleash his rampage."
Gottlieb, co-author of the recently released America Fights Back: Armed
Self-defense In A Violent Age, said the common link between virtually every
mass shooting in recent history in this country is that they all happened in
so-called "gun-free zones" such as shopping malls and college campuses. He and
co-author Dave Workman detail the colossal failure of this "Gun Free Folly" in
their new book.
"What happened at the Westroads Mall can happen anywhere that political
hysteria results in victim disarmament," Gottlieb stated. "Blaming firearms
for this crime is like blaming cars for drunk driving. The argument doesn't
wash. Published reports all suggest that Hawkins was troubled and had
emotional problems, and he reportedly had a felony drug conviction on his
record which prohibited him from owning firearms. This proves that restrictive
gun laws do not prevent determined perpetrators from getting their hands on
guns, but they do prevent law-abiding citizens from having the tools to defend
themselves.
"Remember that a similar shooting at Salt Lake City's Trolley Square earlier
this year was interrupted by an armed, off-duty police officer from another
city," Gottlieb said. "In essence, that man was an armed private citizen. In
Tacoma, Washington two years ago, an armed citizen confronted a gunman at the
Tacoma Mall and although he was seriously wounded, his intervention brought
the shooting to a halt.
"Gun owners, the gun industry, nor our constitutionally-protected individual
right to keep and bear arms are at fault for the Westroads outrage," he said,
"and the gun control lobby knows it. Restrictive laws that disarm honest
citizens and provide risk-free environments for criminals and lunatics are at
fault, and so are the people responsible for passing such laws and enforcing
such prohibitions.

Gun Control and the Supremes - JPFO Alert
Many years ago, cartoonist Rex F. "Baloo" May and I tried to sell a daily comic strip to the newspaper syndicates called Atlantea the Beautiful. Ostensibly, it was about the final days before Atlantis sank beneath the waves, but it was actually a satire of contemporary American politics, being written and drawn during the George H.W. Bush Administration.
What's significant about it is the way we portrayed the Atlantean Supreme Court: nine old men in black dresses sitting atop a giant slot machine, as lawyers below jump up absurdly to pull the lever. Judging from the reactions in the media to the real court's decision to accept a case about the right to own and carry weapons, Rex and I were spot on.
A word here, first, about that right.
Despite the pathetic lies of ideological opponents to individual weapons ownership and the act of self-defense, what the Founding Fathers intended the Second Amendment to express is abundantly clear. All that anybody needs to understand it is to put himself in their position.
Imagine that you (as one of the Founders) have just astounded the world -- and probably yourself, as well -- by defeating the biggest, richest, most powerful and ruthless empire that our species has ever witnessed, in your fight for independence from it. You were able to do this because all but the poorest household in your tiny country was armed with a straighter- and farther-shooting weapon than the enemy possessed.
The last thing on Earth you ever want to see is your children, or your children's children back under the thumb of that brutal tyranny. If Imperial armies can be beaten by private armament, you can answer the question yourself: what do you want the Second Amendment to mean?
And, as a Founder, would you really agree that a right like this, "necessary to the security of a free state", can be regulated by the very entity that it may become necessary to defend one's family against?
Would it even occur to you -- especially since the Revolution started when the government attempted to confiscate privately-owned weapons -- to write a Constitutional amendment guranteeing to the government, not the individual, the right to keep an bear arms? Precisely how stupid or crazy do gun prohibitionists think everybody is?
And precisely what do these high-tax, anti-property rights schemers have planned for us, that they don't want us able to defend ourselves?
The present case, District of Columbia v. Heller -- not that the specifics actually matter -- is all about the District's outright prohibition of pistols and revolvers, and its ridiculous insistence that rifle and shotgun owners dismantle their weapons and lock them up. What's against the law in D.C. -- and it's perfectly apparent in that city's violent crime rate -- is not so much firearms themselves, but the successful act, always embarrassing to those in authority, of self-defense.
After all, If Americans can successfully defend themselves, then they'll need many fewer police officers, and hardly any bureaucrats at all.
But as many writers have already observed, there's a lot more at stake here than just another interpretation of the Second Amendment. The National Rifle Association believes (and for once in a very long while, I agree with them) that it was a strategic error of the highest magnitude to trust the right of the people to keep and bear arms -- or any other right, for that matter -- to a deeply-flawed body like the court.

Also: http://www.jpfo.org/alerts/alert20070716.htm
The Second Amendment is "merely" one of ten, the first amendments to be added to the then-new American Constitution. Together, they comprise what is generally known as the Bill of Rights. They are the highest law of the land, and they were the price Alexander Hamilton's Federalist Party -- those individuals who desired "a strong central government" -- was made to pay by Thomas Jefferson's Anti-Federalists, before the latter would consent to the entire Constitution being ratified.
It was considered a package deal.
Thus any Supreme Court ruling weakening the Second Amendment is, by logical necessity, a ruling weakening the other nine amendments, as well. And any ruling against the Bill of Rights -- that undoes the deal between Federalists and Anti-Federalists -- undoes the whole Constitution.
So, I pretend to hear you ask, what? Isn't the U.S. Constitution just an old scrap of paper -- as our Glorious Leader contends? Also, isn't it hopelelessly outdated, utterly obsolete in this age of iPods, nuclear power, Palm Pilots, wireless Internet communication, and spaceships?
Not exactly. To begin with, it isn't really paper, it's parchment -- animal skin -- and the main body of the Constitution is the working charter, the operating system, if you will, for the strong central government that Hamilton and his Federalist buddies wanted so badly. Without it, you have no government -- at least no government operating by the consent of the governed -- just as, without an actual operating system, all the computer hardware in the world is merely worthless junk.
Thirty years ago or so, I predicted that, if the Supreme Court ever rules against the Second Amendment, that will be the end, not of the Second Amendment, but of the Supreme Court. It should be clear now that, without the rule of law -- without a legal government -- there's no need for a Supreme Court. All that we have left is a dictatorship, running on terror and brute force. Maybe that's what those currently in power actually want, but the age in which an arrangement like that is stable has been over for quite a while. It is most likely to come to an end more quickly than its proponents anticipate, and also very badly.
Goodbye to the Second Amendment, goodbye to the United States of America.
Is the court likely to understand all that? I don't know. Despite their august public image, they are hardly rocket scientists or brain surgeons. It's important to remember that what they are is lawyers, and, if my information about how lawyers become judges holds water (they mostly get "kicked upstairs" so they won't be an embarrassment to the firm), not very good ones. The 1856 Dred Scott v. Sanford case http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dred_Scott is early evidence of that.
In 1918, despite the clear language of the 13th Amendment outlawing "involuntary servitude of any kind", the court upheld the draft, saying it was a necessary part of the Constitutional power of Congress to raise an army. Apparently the dullards sitting on that particular court were unaware that amendments invariably supercede whatever was written in the main body of the document. If this were not so, Bill Clinton and George Bush would be free to run for a third term.
Go to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conscription
Apparently George Orwell didn't invent Orwellian language. What the court actually said was: "Finally, as we are unable to conceive upon what theory the exaction by government from the citizen of the performance of his supreme and noble duty of contributing to the defense of the rights and honor of the nation as the result of a war declared by the great representative body of the people can be said to be the imposition of involuntary servitude in violation of the prohibitions of the Thirteenth Amendment, we are constrained to the conclusion that the contention to that effect is refuted by its mere statement."
In other words, "It isn't involuntary because we say it isn't".
The year 1939 brought us the deeply bungled case of U.S. v. Miller, in which, among other things, the court ruled that short- barrelled shotguns, which had been effectively outlawed by the Roosevelt Administration in 1934, were to remain illegal because they had no military application, and therefore were not protected by the Second Amendment. This pronouncement must have come as a surprise to the veterans of World War I who had relied on short-barrelled shotguns -- military issue and otherwise -- to keep their trenches free of "Huns".
Go to: http://www.jpfo.org/filegen-a-m/miller.htm
More recently, we have Kelo v. City of New London (2005), which, if taken seriously, spells the end of private property in America. The court held that a municipality (and by extension, a county or state) is perfectly free to steal a private individual's real estate and hand it over to some other private individual or corporation, if the city gains more tax revenue from whatever new use the real estate is put to.
Go to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kelo_v._City_of_New_London
It appears that throughout its long, awkward, anchorless history, the Supreme Court is simply willing to do the dirty work politicians that politicians can't get done (or don't want to be seen doing), themselves.
Now this same cross-dressing gaggle of criminals, idiots, and lunatics who slipped Dred Scott the purple shaft, cancelled out the Thirteenth Amendment, gave government a green light to infringe on your right to own and carry whatever weapon pleases you, and decided that whatever you own is up for grabs by any crook or corporation that can bribe a city councilman, is about to decide whether or not -- like any other man, woman, and responsible child -- you have an unalienable individual, civil, Constitutional, and human right to obtain, own, and carry, openly or concealed, any weapon, rifle, shotgun, handgun, machinegun, anything, any time, any place, without asking anyone's permission.
People within the general freedom movement complain all the time about the "Nanny State". Now we're all about to learn who the real nannies are: those nine old men and women sitting atop that giant slot machine.

Senate Close To Confirming A Ted Kennedy-style Liberal To BATFE -- Contact your Senator immediately
The above quote highlights all you need to know about Michael Sullivan, the acting director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Sullivan was, unfortunately, nominated by President Bush to permanently take over ATF this year. Right before Thanksgiving, the Senate "hotlined" his name for unanimous consent approval. (Hotlining is a parliamentary maneuver which allows non-controversial bills or nominations to be unanimously approved by the Senate without debate or a vote.)
GOA immediately sent a letter to each Senator's office, urging them to oppose the Sullivan nomination. Thankfully, one senator subsequently objected to Sullivan's approval, and his nomination was put on hold. However, that legislator is now coming under fire from other senators, who are asking him to withdraw his "hold."
That's why it's important for gun owners to contact their two Senators. Under Sullivan's leadership, the ATF has gone berserk. Sure, the problems at ATF didn't originate with him, but Sullivan has certainly done nothing to put out the fire.
While discussing the agency's 2008 appropriations bill, the House Commerce & Justice committee issued a stinging rebuke for the ATF:
The committee has heard reports that ATF has pursued license revocations and denials against firearms dealers based on violations that consist largely of recordkeeping errors of various types that are unlikely to impede tracing investigations or prosecution of individuals who use firearms in crime. The Committee encourages ATF to consider lesser gradation of sanctions for recordkeeping errors. [House Committee report on HR 3093.]
The strategy, that was begun long before Sullivan arrived, has continued unabated under his tutelage. ATF inspectors try to find any violation they can, usually focusing on clerical mistakes.
A family gun business that had been in operation for years in Baltimore, Maryland was attacked because of the "wanton, repeated crime" of abbreviating Baltimore as "Blto" on the teeny, tiny spaces on the 4473 forms.
Now, the agency has turned their collective guns on Red's Trading Post in Idaho, among others. Even though one ATF agent told the manager that Red's was "one of the best small gun shops" he'd ever seen, the ATF has continued its assault on this gun shop (which has been in business for decades) for minor clerical mistakes and failing to put up a poster.
According to WorldNetDaily, one judge who is familiar with the Red's Trading Post case found "the ATF speaks of violations found during the inspections of 2000 and 2005, but fails to reveal that additional investigations in 2001 and 2007 revealed no violations or problems." The judge also noted the ATF was exaggerating the situation by "double counting" some violations.
The agency holds a continuing animus against gun owners and dealers. Inspectors have no handbook under which to operate, and the absence of such written procedures allows them to be arbitrary and capricious.
Americans don't need an anti-gun cop from Massachusetts as the Director of the federal gun police.
CONTACT: Please ask your Senators to oppose anti-gunner Michael Sullivan as the Director of the BATFE. You can use the pre-written message below and send it as an e-mail by visiting the GOA Legislative Action Center (where phone and fax numbers are also available).
---------- Pre-written letter ----------
Dear Senator:
I urge you to OPPOSE the nomination of Michael Sullivan for the head of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Under his leadership, the ATF has gone berserk. Sure, the problems at ATF didn't originate with him, but Sullivan has certainly done nothing to put out the fire.
In July, a House committee report on HR 3093 rebuked the ATF for pursuing license revocations and denials against firearms dealers based on "violations that consist largely of recordkeeping errors of various types" that are unlikely to impede tracing investigations or prosecution of individuals who use firearms in crime.
Red's Trading Post in Idaho is one of the many gun dealers that have been frequently harassed by the ATF.
Finally, the fact that Ted Kennedy wants to work with Sullivan on gun control is reason enough to find another candidate to head up the ATF. Kennedy said, "We'll miss him in Massachusetts, but heÃÍl be a strong leader at ATF, and I look forward to working with him on key issues on gun control."
Because of these concerns, I would ask that you please oppose the Sullivan nomination, and instead work with Gun Owners of America and the NRA to find a nominee who will protect the rights of innocent gun owners.
Sincerely,
********
Hundreds of safety violations documented for Mexican rigs
Members of the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association say they have documented hundreds of safety violations by Mexican trucks rolling on U.S. roads under the Department of Transportation's Mexican truck demonstration project.
"The Department of Transportation is allowing Mexican long-haul rigs to operate in the United States without requiring U.S. rules and regulations to be enforced," Rick Craig, the director of regulatory affairs for the group, told WND in a telephone interview yesterday.
"The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is providing exemptions from U.S. safety rules that the FMCSA claim are covered in a Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Mexico," Craig continued.
"It's a clear double standard," he said. "Mexican truck safety regulations are being accepted by the FMCSA as equivalent to U.S. rules, even though the FMCSA refuses to provide any real detail about how or why the decision was made."

Repeal the Second Amendment?
The Bill of Rights are not rights "granted" to us by government. They are God given rights. The purpose of the Second Amendment is to act as a bulwark against tyranny and oppression from government. We the people, retain the ultimate right to take back by force of arms, as a last resort, our freedoms and liberty in the face of tyranny and oppression by those seeking to govern us.
As such, a purported "repeal" of the individual right to keep and bear arms would be null and void. Such act would itself constitute justification for resorting to that foundational right of self defense to combat tyranny and oppression.
IRAQ VETERAN VICTIM OF GOVERNMENT ABUSE
This morning an email brought me news of another atrocity to be added to the list of law enforcement abuse:
On Sunday, October 21, 2007, Billy Miller was arrested by the Farmington, New Hampshire (LIVE FREE OR DIE!) Police Department on charges of misdemeanor. He was unlawfully held at the Strafford County Correctional Facility, Dover, NH in the ÅÃooking department for seventeen days. THIS IS AGAINST THE LAW. NO ONE MAY BE HELD FOR MORE THAN 72 HOURS!
Bail condition was set at $20,000 cash ONLY, excessive, and held in a state of peonage which is strictly prohibited by the Constitution. He was drugged from the first day (documented), restrained, denied visitation, held in solitare with lights illuminated 24 hours, denied his right to file a Writ of Habeas Corps.
During BillyÃÔ detainment, his mother, Marie Luise Miller, was permitted a few visits, and than none. The attempt is to deem her son incompetent. Her son is an extremely intelligent man, a veteran of Gulf War I, 82nd Airborne , Special Forces. Billy was competent and coherent during his motherÃÔ first two visits with him. Thereafter, it was obvious by her sonÃÔ physical appearance and frame of mind that he was under the control of some kind of substance. On her last permitted visit, Friday, November 2nd his skin was red as a lobster and his facial skin was red and blue. His mother has been, since then, denied visitation and the reason for denial of visits by the guards is that her son is mentally incompetent and needs medical attention. If that being the case, he should be in a hospital, NOT IN JAIL!

Court rules social workers must follow law
A federal court has ruled that social workers have to respect the U.S. Constitution regarding privacy and parental rights, and if they don't they may be held liable.
The ruling comes in an Arizona case in which social workers, accompanied by Maricopa County deputy sheriffs, made unsupported threats to place a family's children in custody and arrest the parents if they were not allowed to make what ended up being an allegedly illegal search of the family's home.

Write the Senators
Take the Red's Trading Post Challenge!
The other night I began to write about what the ATF is doing to our Second Amendment to our Senators and I mean ALL 100 of our Senators. I went from Alabama to Wyoming following this GOA Link:

and copying and pasting this message:
ATF using Back Door attacks to shut down our Second Amendment
Dear Senator,
I wanted to make you aware of the back door attack that the ATF is conducting on our Second Amendment. From 1994-2005 the number of dealers has decreased nearly 80%; from 2001-06 the number of license revocations had increased nearly 6 times.
Furthermore, the number of Firearms manufacturers from 2001-06 has decreased nearly 85%. These numbers are very alarming and I hope that you will look into this and stop this Back Door assault on our Second Amendment.
Respectfully,

U.S. under U.N. law in health emergency
The Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America summit in Canada released a plan that established U.N. law along with regulations by the World Trade Organization and World Health Organization as supreme over U.S. law and set the stage for militarizing the management of continental health emergencies.
The "North American Plan for Avian & Pandemic Influenza" was finalized at the SPP summit last week in Montebello, Quebec.
At the same time, the U.S. Northern Command, or NORTHCOM, has created a webpage dedicated to avian flu and has been running exercises in preparation for the possible use of U.S. military forces in a continental domestic emergency involving avian flu or pandemic influenza.
With virtually no media attention, in 2005 President Bush shifted U.S. policy on avian flu and pandemic influenza, placing the country under international guidelines not specifically determined by domestic agencies.
The policy shift was formalized Sept. 14, 2005, when Bush announced a new International Partnership on Avian and Pandemic Influenza to a High-Level Plenary Meeting of the U.N. General Assembly, in New York. ...

Armed for first day of school
Hundreds of thousands of students had their first day of school on Monday. Some of them had to learn to carry guns and be prepared to shoot -- polar bears.

Students on the Arctic archipelago of Svalbard aren't allowed to leave their village without a shotgun and ammunition. That's because hungry polar bears can be behind every swing on the island.
Although no one wants to shoot a polar bear, and they're indeed protected by national law, the huge white animals can quickly outrun a human. And humans don't have a chance if confronted by an aggressive bear.
So everyone on Svalbard needs to be able defend him- or herself, and students undergo weapons training every year.
"We feel more secure and look forward to learn a lot more," said Helga Therese Tilley Tajet of Moelv. She's studying meteorology at the University of Oslo and will concentrate on the Arctic marine climate for the next six months at the university on Svalbard, UNIS.
The students are also trained in Arctic survival techniques in addition to how to use a weapon. "It's absolutely necessary," said UNIS director Gunnar Sand. Much of the course work involved is carried out in the field, and the students also go trekking in their free time.
The school lends out weapons, ammunition, tents, sleeping bags, survival suits, snow scooters and other equipment that's essential in the Arctic landscape.
"Polar bears are one thing," Sand noted. "Even more dangerous is the extreme cold, and the winds. There also are dangerous glaciers, steep cliffs, and it's a long way between settlements."

Court rules: Illegal aliens not really 'illegal'
An appeals court has concluded that just being an illegal alien in the United States doesn't necessarily violate the law, so a judge cannot deny probation and require a jail sentence for a convicted drug dealer who is an illegal alien.
The opinion from the Kansas Court of Appeals came in the Barton County case involving convicted drug dealer Nicholas L. Martinez.
The ruling found that while the laws of the United States make it illegal to enter the United States without authorization, being in the United States after entering illegally is "not necessarily a crime."

Homeland Security Enlists Clergy to Quell Public Unrest if Martial Law Ever Declared
Could martial law ever become a reality in America? Some fear any nuclear, biological or chemical attack on U.S. soil might trigger just that. KSLA News 12 has discovered that the clergy would help the government with potentially their biggest problem: Us.
Charleton Heston's now-famous speech before the National Rifle Association at a convention back in 2000 will forever be remembered as a stirring moment for all 2nd Amendment advocates. At the end of his remarks, Heston held up his antique rifle and told the crowd in his Moses-like voice, "over my cold, dead hands."
While Heston, then serving as the NRA President, made those remarks in response to calls for more gun control laws at the time, those words live on. Heston's declaration captured a truly American value: An over-arching desire to protect our freedoms.
But gun confiscation is exactly what happened during the state of emergency following Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, along with forced relocation. U.S. Troops also arrived, something far easier to do now, thanks to last year's elimination of the 1878 Posse Comitatus act, which had forbid regular U.S. Army troops from policing on American soil.
If martial law were enacted here at home, like depicted in the movie "The Siege", easing public fears and quelling dissent would be critical. And that's exactly what the 'Clergy Response Team' helped accomplish in the wake of Katrina.
Dr. Durell Tuberville serves as chaplain for the Shreveport Fire Department and the Caddo Sheriff's Office. Tuberville said of the clergy team's mission, "the primary thing that we say to anybody is, 'let's cooperate and get this thing over with and then we'll settle the differences once the crisis is over.'"
Such clergy response teams would walk a tight-rope during martial law between the demands of the government on the one side, versus the wishes of the public on the other. "In a lot of cases, these clergy would already be known in the neighborhoods in which they're helping to diffuse that situation," assured Sandy Davis. He serves as the director of the Caddo-Bossier Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness
Exclusive: U.S. Studying Two Dozen 'Clusters' of Possible Homegrown Terrorists
U.S. law enforcement officials say they have identified more than two dozen "clusters" of young Muslim men in the northeast United States who are on a path that could lead to homegrown terror, ABC News has learned.
"Any one of those clusters may be capable of carrying out a terrorist action that will result in fatalities," Rand Corporation terrorism expert Brian Jenkins tells ABC News.
In a report to be made public today, New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly concludes the 9/ll attacks were an "anomaly" and the most serious terror threat to the country comes from clusters of "unremarkable" individuals who are on a path that could lead to homegrown terror.
The report by the NYPD intelligence division, "Radicalization in the West and the Homegrown Threat," plots "the trajectory of radicalization" and tracks the path of a non-radicalized individual to an individual with the willingness to commit an act of terror, multiple sources say.
"The threat is real; this is not some bogey man we are creating here. There are individuals who are proselytizing, inciting angry young men to go down this path," said Jenkins, who reviewed and contributed to the NYPD report.
Click Here for Full Blotter Coverage.
The report identifies mosques, bookstores, cafes, prisons and flop houses as what it calls "radicalization incubators" that provide "extremist fodder or fuel for radicalization."
The leader of an American Arab civil rights group labeled the NYPD report as "unfortunate stereotyping" and at odds with federal law enforcement findings that the threat from homegrown terrorists was minimal.

U.S. to Expand Domestic Use Of Spy Satellites
The U.S.'s top intelligence official has greatly expanded the range of federal and local authorities who can get access to information from the nation's vast network of spy satellites in the U.S.
The decision, made three months ago by Director of National Intelligence Michael McConnell, places for the first time some of the U.S.'s most powerful intelligence-gathering tools at the disposal of domestic security officials. The move was authorized in a May 25 memo sent to Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff asking his department to facilitate access to the spy network on behalf of civilian agencies and law enforcement....

New airport agents check for danger in fliers' facial expressions
WASHINGTON — Next time you go to the airport, there may be more eyes on you than you notice.
Specially trained security personnel are watching body language and facial cues of passengers for signs of bad intentions. The watcher could be the attendant who hands you the tray for your laptop or the one standing behind the ticket-checker. Or the one next to the curbside baggage attendant.
They're called Behavior Detection Officers, and they're part of several recent security upgrades, Transportation Security Administrator Kip Hawley told an aviation industry group in Washington last month. He described them as "a wonderful tool to be able to identify and do risk management prior to somebody coming into the airport or approaching the crowded checkpoint."
The officers are working in more than a dozen airports already, according to Paul Ekman, a former professor at the University of California at San Francisco who has advised Hawley's agency on the program. Amy Kudwa, a TSA public affairs specialist, said the agency hopes to have 500 behavior detection officers in place by the end of 2008.
Kudwa described the effort, which began as a pilot program in 2006, as "very successful" at identifying suspicious airline passengers. She said it had netted drug carriers, illegal immigrants and terrorism suspects. She wouldn't say more.
At the heart of the new screening system is a theory that when people try to conceal their emotions, they reveal their feelings in flashes that Ekman, a pioneer in the field, calls "micro-expressions." Fear and disgust are the key ones, he said, because they're associated with deception.
Behavior detection officers work in pairs. Typically, one officer sizes up passengers openly while the other seems to be performing a routine security duty. A passenger who arouses suspicion, whether by micro-expressions, social interaction or body language gets subtle but more serious scrutiny.
A behavior specialist may decide to move in to help the suspicious passenger recover belongings that have passed through the baggage X-ray. Or he may ask where the traveler's going. If more alarms go off, officers will "refer" the person to law enforcement officials for further questioning.
The strategy is based on a time-tested and successful Israeli model, but in the United States, the scrutiny is much less invasive, Ekman said. American officers receive 16 hours of training — far less than their Israeli counterparts_ because U.S. officials want to be less intrusive...

San Francisco fails in attack on Savage
A single vote by a San Francisco Board of Supervisors member whose grandfather emigrated from China seven decades ago has halted in its tracks a proposal to condemn as "hate speech" radio personality Michael Savage's criticism of illegal aliens in the United States.
The vote tonight was 9-1, with 3rd generation San Franciscan Ed Jew turning in the veto vote, after getting up and affirming Savage's First Amendment right to express his opinion.
Supervisor Gerardo Sandoval had introduced a resolution condemning the radio talker, and after the vote called for the tally to be rescinded and the proposal sent to committee, which essentially is a polite way of letting the issue die.
"For the record, I do not agree with comments allegedly made by Mr. Savage, but the First Amendment gives him the right to make those comments," Jew said.

Stop The NAU and NAFTA Highway- PETITION
The Issue:
There is a strong movement underway to create a new North American “framework” that links the U.S., Mexico and Canada in ways that are a direct threat to the sovereignty of the United States. The centerpiece of current efforts is the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) -- a trilateral arrangement made without Congressional approval to facilitate economic, legal and political integration in this new North American “framework.”

AMERICAN EX. ADDRESSES RFID TRACKING PLANS FOR PEOPLE
The top brass at American Express, chagrined at the discovery of its people tracking plans, met with CASPIAN (Consumers Against Supermarket Privacy Invasion and Numbering) last week to discuss the issue. One outcome of the meeting was a promise by American Express to review its entire patent portfolio and ensure that any people-tracking plans be accompanied by language requiring consumer notice and consent.
The meeting was organized after CASPIAN called attention to one of the company's more troublesome patent applications. That patent application, titled "Method and System for Facilitating a Shopping Experience," describes a Minority Report style blueprint for monitoring consumers through RFID-enabled objects, like the American Express Blue Card.
According to the patent, RFID readers called "consumer trackers" would be placed in store shelving to pick up "consumer identification signals" emitted by RFID-embedded objects carried by shoppers. These would be used to identify people, track their movements, and observe their behavior.
The patent also suggested such people-tracking systems could "be located in a common area of a school, shopping center, bus station or other place of public accommodation."
Allegations of American Express people-tracking blueprints first came to light at a conference sponsored by the Consumer Federation of America in Washington, D.C. last month. There, Dr. Katherine Albrecht, Founder and Director of CASPIAN, revealed the patent pending plans that she and her "Spychips" co-author Liz McIntyre uncovered in their ongoing RFID research.
Soon thereafter, American Express arranged for four of its vice presidents, including the vice presidents of Contactless Payments and Public Affairs, to meet with CASPIAN leaders in a phone conference.

Comment: How about Americans responding by saying it's none of your F_ _ _ _ _ _ _ business! Or is wording more "offensive" than the fact that you are being tracked 24 - 7?
KU KLUX KLAN ACT PROTECTS SAVAGE, SAYS TOP CIVIL RIGHTS ATTORNEY.
KU KLUX KLAN ACT PROTECTS SAVAGE, SAYS TOP CIVIL RIGHTS ATTORNEY.
"Michael:
You have a strong Federal Civil Rights action that you can file against Supervisor Sandoval and the City of San Francisco.
You have a constitutional right to state your political opinions and no city official has the right to lie about what you said or to call for a mob to come to your door to threaten you and to try to have you fired.
Historically, the people of this country have never allowed the government to quash free speech. The civil rights lawsuit is one way that we keep the government off our backs. I have no problem with Sandoval voicing his opinions. He can disagree with you all that he wants. What he cannot do is to harness the power of the state and use it to try and crush an individual citizen.
The First Amendment to the United States Constitution states that:
Congress shall make no law ... abridging the freedom of speech.
After the civil war we passed the fourteenth amendment which made the First Amendment and all of the amendments in the bill of rights, apply to the states.
When the Board of Supervisors passes a resolution against you that is government action abridging the freedom of speech.
When Sandoval in his role as a supervisor, organizes a mob to try and take away your top rated national radio show, he is using the power of the state to crush freedom of speech.
This is against the law. This same type of terrorism by government officials has been used in the past.
The civil rights of our African American brethren were regularly violated by police and government officials. In fact, it was John Kennedy who had to send federal troops to Mississippi to protect the Freedom Riders from mobs which were often organized by the politicians.
If you file a federal civil rights lawsuit is like holding the constitution in your hand and waving it in the face of those who think that they can violate your constitutional rights just because they are powerful.
The federal civil rights lawsuit that you can bring against Representative Sandoval was created by Congress on April 20, 1871 as part of the Civil Rights Act of 1871.
It is also known as the "Ku Klux Klan Act" because one of its primary purposes was to provide a civil remedy against the abuses that were being committed in the southern states, especially by the Ku Klux Klan.
You are protected by this civil rights act because you are the victim of the same type of mob terror that Klan used to inflict. This terror is being organized against you simply because people do not like what you say. Translated into legal language, you are being attacked by a type of terrorist because you have exercised your First Amendment rights.
The Klansman in your case is wearing a suit and not a white robe. He is doing his dirty work under the hood of his elected position instead of under the coward's hood of the Klan.
I am very aware of the hateful things that Sandoval has said in the past.
I know he has tried to incite mobs to go to the homes of people he does not like. I know that he has tried getting mobs to interrupt religious ceremonies involving thirteen year olds. He seems to be a very malicious man.
I wish that you would remind your listeners that even as you oppose illegal immigration, you have always stood strongly against discrimination.
I don’t think people like Sandoval have read your books or even listened too many of your shows. I have.
You are the kind of person who will stand up against the government when comes down unfairly against any group. I notice that Sandoval claims that you slander immigrants. Of course, he is really the one who slanders immigrants because he groups illegal immigrants who you criticize with legal immigrants who you support. To him, they are just one big group. This Sandoval fellow accused you of using "defamatory language ... against immigrants". Of course, this is statement by Sandoval is slander. I have listened to your show.
You are very complimentary of immigrants. In fact, you frequently mention that your parents were immigrants. The slander by Sandoval arises because he claims that your opposition to illegal entry into this country is somehow a stand against Hispanics. That is like saying that every border patrol agent and every Congress person is anti-immigrant because they don’t condone illegal border crossing.
When Sandoval purposely accuses you of being against immigrants when you are in fact in favor of legal immigrants and against the criminal conduct of illegal entry, Sandoval slanders you. But then he goes even further in his wrongful conduct.
Sandoval’s use of the mob to try to terrorize you is reminiscent of the tactics of Hitler, Stalin, Hugo Chavez and any other fascist who uses the power of the state and mob to silence speech.
When you stand up to Sandoval, you are standing up not only for your free speech but even for the free speech of those hunger strike students with whom you so fundamentally disagree. If they can silence you I guarantee that those four students will be next ... and then me.
I will back you Michael and file this lawsuit if you wish."

New Bloomberg Handbill
New Bloomberg Handbill
We have added another handbill to our "Humiliate and Repudiate" campaign (www.jpfo.org/alert20070711.htm) and it's just as irreverent as the last! Visit www.jpfo.org/handbillbloomberg.jpg to see why bagel-brained billionaire Michael Bloomberg _really_ likes "gun control"!
"Control" is the key word here. New York police announced last month that they would install more than 100 security cameras to monitor license plates in Lower Manhattan by the end of the year. And according to the Boston Globe, the US is currently spending millions on street cameras to watch and monitor US citizens around the clock ( http://www.boston.com/news/nation/washington/articles/2007/08/12/us_doles_out_millions_for_street_cameras/ or http://tinyurl.com/2pyy36 ) .

The article notes that IBM -- who with their punch card system helped the Nazis track down Jews throughout Europe during WWII -- is also helping the Chinese government keep track of an overpopulated China with IBM computers.

Radical mosque to feed proposed N.Y. Arabic school?
Foes of a new publicly funded Arabic-themed school in New York worry it will draw students from a radical mosque tied to terrorism and become an incubator for young jihadists.
The Khalil Gibran International Academy, scheduled to open next month in Brooklyn, is located three blocks from the Masjid al-Farooq mosque frequented by one of the terrorists involved in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.
The Boerum Hill mosque counts among past imams:
Blind Sheik Omar Abdul Rahman, who is serving a federal prison sentence for conspiring to blow up New York City landmarks.
Fawaz Abu Damra, who has preached that Muslims should be "directing all rifles at the first and last enemy of the Islamic nation, and this is the sons of monkeys and pigs – the Jews."
Gulshair El-Shukrijumah, one-time interpreter for the Blind Sheik and the late father of Adnan el-Shukrijumah, a suspected al-Qaida operative wanted by the FBI as possibly training to be the "next Mohamed Atta."
Federal investigators recently traced money raised for al-Qaida back to the al-Farooq mosque, which did not return phone calls seeking comment.
"It is still frequented by Islamists," said Sara Springer, an eighth-grade teacher at a public middle school in Brooklyn.
"I am very concerned that the school will be a madrassa, funded by taxpayer dollars," she said. "We will in effect be supporting the training of future terrorist cells."

Top attorney backs Savage against San Fran official
One of the nation's top civil rights attorneys has offered his assistance in suing a San Francisco city supervisor who attacked nationally syndicated radio talk-show host Michael Savage for his tough stance against illegal immigration.
Daniel A. Horowitz of Oakland, Calif., wrote to Savage after Supervisor Gerardo Sandoval introduced a resolution condemning the radio talker urging him to sue the official, whom he compared to Adolph Hitler, Josef Stalin and Hugo Chavez in the way he attempted to silence political speech by rallying the mob.
"You have a strong federal civil rights action that you can file against Supervisor Sandoval and the city of San Francisco," he advised. "You have a constitutional right to state your political opinions and no city official has the right to lie about what you said or to call for a mob to come to your door to threaten you and to try to have you fired."
Horowitz said the Civil Rights Act of 1871, designed to tame the terror of the Ku Klux Klan, can be used as the basis for a federal civil rights action against the official and the city.

In China, a High-Tech Plan to Track People
SHENZHEN, China, Aug. 9 — At least 20,000 police surveillance cameras are being installed along streets here in southern China and will soon be guided by sophisticated computer software from an American-financed company to recognize automatically the faces of police suspects and detect unusual activity.
Starting this month in a port neighborhood and then spreading across Shenzhen, a city of 12.4 million people, residency cards fitted with powerful computer chips programmed by the same company will be issued to most citizens.
Data on the chip will include not just the citizen’s name and address but also work history, educational background, religion, ethnicity, police record, medical insurance status and landlord’s phone number. Even personal reproductive history will be included, for enforcement of China’s controversial “one child” policy. Plans are being studied to add credit histories, subway travel payments and small purchases charged to the card.
...steps are officially aimed at fighting crime and developing better controls on an increasingly mobile population, including the nearly 10 million peasants who move to big cities each year. But they could also help the Communist Party retain power by maintaining tight controls on an increasingly prosperous population at a time when street protests are becoming more common.
“If they do not get the permanent card, they cannot live here, they cannot get government benefits, and that is a way for the government to control the population in the future,” said Michael Lin, the vice president for investor relations at China Public Security Technology, the company providing the technology.
...New York police announced last month that they would install more than 100 security cameras to monitor license plates in Lower Manhattan by the end of the year. Police officials also said they hoped to obtain financing to establish links to 3,000 public and private cameras in the area by the end of next year; no decision has been made on whether face recognition technology has become reliable enough to use without the risk of false arrests.
Shenzhen already has 180,000 indoor and outdoor closed-circuit television cameras owned by businesses and government agencies, and the police will have the right to link them on request into the same system as the 20,000 police cameras, according to China Public Security.

SAN FRANCISCO (Map, News) - As immigrants face skyrocketing application fees from the federal government, a new proposal by Supervisor Chris Daly could give financial assistance to those applying for citizenship.
Under a new fee structure the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services implemented last week, an immigrant applying for a green card would pay $930, an increase of $605. Other fees that increased were citizenship applications, which went from $330 to $595.
Daly requested on Tuesday that the city attorney draft legislation to create a plan to provide city subsidies to immigrants applying for citizenship, green cards and petitions for relatives, and workers. He has also requested an analysis of the total cost immigrants in San Francisco pay for such services.
Daly said the fee increases raise concerns that immigrants “cannot obtain safe pathways to legal immigrant status and citizenship” and “further exacerbates pressures on families, increasing stress.”
... Comment: "immigrants" - you mean illegal invaders! Those in Power infringe and attack our American Bill of Rights while they use our tax monies to aid those who are invading our country and destroying it.
Michael Savage Responds to Attack by San Francisco Supervisor
After San Francisco Supervisor Gerardo Sandoval introduced a resolution condemning the "defamatory language used by radio personality Michael Savage against immigrants,” Savage lashed back at the newly elected supervisor.
"Illiberalism is not only a mental disorder it is fascist at its core,” the mega-popular talk show host told NewsMax.com. "This schmuck says my comments are 'symbolic of hatred and racism.' And they want the City to sue me for 'symbolism.'
"There is no basis in American Law for such a suit but the larger point is the astonishing hate speech he is engaging in. To stop opinion by threatening legal action is akin to using the power of the State to control thought and speech.”
This, Savage fumed "is something out of Kafka and the ex-Soviet Union. Moreover, this illegitimi is working on behalf of a foreign government against an American Citizen. Does this constitute harassment against me? My attorney will soon answer this question as I ponder suing the City of San Francisco.”
Savage had suggested that a group of students who were fasting to advocate for immigration policy changes should be allowed to fast "until they starve to death, then that solves the problem.”
Meanwhile, Savage reminded NewsMax that the San Francisco Chronicle reported an apparent anti-Semitic remark Sandoval made, when he said that San Francisco residents who resented business leaders suing the city should picket them "at their houses in Tiburon and at their bar mitzvahs."
Comment: I heard Mr. Savage on the radio and in my opinion his comment was GREAT! Why doesn't Supervisor Gerardo Sandoval fast until he starves to death. Hopefully Americans will not have to resort to the 2nd Amendment to protect the rest of the Bill of Rights. The 1st Amendment isn't about protecting the speech that the politicians want to hear, it's about protecting the speech that they want to silence!

Nuclear Smuggling at US Seaports
by Jim Kouri, CPP - The Associated Press story regarding the US government entrusting a Hong Kong conglomerate to help detect nuclear materials inside cargo passing through the Bahamas to the United States and elsewhere, on the heels of the Dubai ports controversy, has done much to bring the issue of seaport security and nuclear scanning to the forefront of political discussion.
According to the AP story, the Bush Administration confirmed that it entered into a no-bid contract with Hutchison Whampoa Ltd. will be involved in running a sophisticated US radiation detector at an overseas port without American customs agents present.
Since September 11, 2001, concern has increased that terrorists could smuggle nuclear weapons or materials into this country in the approximately 10 million containers that arrive annually at US seaports. Nuclear materials can be smuggled across borders by being placed inside containers aboard cargo ships. In response to this concern, since 2003, the Department of Energy has deployed radiation detection equipment to key foreign seaports through its Megaports Initiative.

Tancredo: U.S. Should Threaten Islamic Holy Sites
(AP) WASHINGTON Republican presidential hopeful Tom Tancredo says the best way he can think of to deter a nuclear terrorist attack on the U.S. is to threaten to retaliate by bombing Islamic holy sites.
The Colorado congressman on Tuesday told about 30 people at a town hall meeting in Osceola, Iowa, that he believes such a terrorist attack could be imminent and that the U.S. needs to hurry up and think of a way to stop it.
"If it is up to me, we are going to explain that an attack on this homeland of that nature would be followed by an attack on the holy sites in Mecca and Medina," Tancredo said at the Family Table restaurant. "Because that's the only thing I can think of that might deter somebody from doing what they otherwise might do."
Mecca and Medina, in Saudi Arabia, are Islam's holiest cities. All able-bodied Muslims are required to make a pilgrimage there at least once in their lives. Tancredo's comments were recorded and posted on the Web site iowapolitics.com.
A Washington-based Islamic civil rights and advocacy group responded in anger Thursday, calling Tancredo's statement "unworthy of anyone seeking public office in the United States."
"Perhaps it's evidence of a long-shot candidate grasping at straws and trying to create some kind of a controversy that might appeal to a niche audience of anti-Muslim bigots," said Ibrahim Hooper, spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
Campaign spokesman, Alan Moore, said Tancredo stands by his statement.
This isn't the first time Tancredo has suggested taking extreme action against Mecca and Medina.
In 2005, he drew international criticism after he told a radio talk show host that "you could take out" Islamic holy sites if terrorists ever launched a nuclear attack against the United States.
Comment: Sounds like a solid plan.

Also, between 2000 and 2005, the number of young (16 to 34) native-born men employed declined by 1.7 million - at the same time, the number of new male immigrant workers increased by 1.9 million. ACTION ITEM
Currently there is only one cosponsor of the bill :-(
That cosponsor is none other than Virgil Goode, Jr. of Virginia (R-5)!
We need to get the word out so we can get a lot of cosponsors on this bill.

I urge you to cosponsor and help move Congressman Ron Paul's bill HR. 1897!
HR. 1897 will allow law-abiding gun owners to be able to carry a
handgun for self-defense in a National Park.
The Department of the Interior has refused to seriously consider
changing their current regulations to allow citizens the right to
self-defense, even though crime is on the rise in National Parks.
Congress needs to act to protect the lives of innocent citizens.
Please let me know what you are going to do.

CHE GUEVARA: PC ICON
Che Guevara's image graces many a T-shirt worn in the US. Wearing one of these seems to be intended as a statement that it is good to be free of the crushing norms of a civilization tricked up by dead white men.
The T-shirt image depicts a long-haired 1960’s hippy gazing steadfastly into the future.
The truth is, Ernesto "Che" Guevara, the one-time number three in Fidel Castro's thugocracy, would have had a guy looking like Guevara's resemblance arrested and sent to a concentration camp known by their acronym: UMAP (Military Units for the Promotion of Production). Guevara was resolutely against rock and roll and its long-haired adherents. Long after his demise his grandson was rousted by the Cuban police for being a rocker.
Che is revered today as one who was above materialism, but he sure did not get that memo when he stole one of the largest mansions in Cuba. While he remained in Cuba, he lived and entertained in the lap of luxury.
As Minister of the Economy, Che drove Cuba into the ground. The country had been more prosperous than France, but in a short period of time, it became a place even fleeing Haitians avoided. This was not a failure in socialist terms. By impoverishing the whole country, the thugocracy ensured that there would be much less opportunity to oppose them.
The objective of Che and the Castro brothers was to monopolize power. In addition to bankrupting the country, gun confiscations were carried out the day after seizing power. As the Nazis before them in Germany, the Cuban communists used the gun registration lists of the prior government for rounding up privately owned guns.
As Lenin and Stalin before him (Che began his tenure in power signing his name as Stalin II), Che carried out executions on a daily basis. Even when there was a trial, the outcomes were not surprising the execution lists were posted before the trials would begin for the day. The names of the accused were the same as those on the execution lists. Che’s judicial philosophy was captured in this quote: "I don’t need proof to execute a man I only need proof that it's necessary to execute him." (cited in Exposing the Real Che Guevara by Humberto Fontova, p. xxiii)

RARER THAN RABIES: THE LEGACY OF MICHAEL NIFONG
So... do you merely trust your government officials?
===
Soon after prosecutor Michael Nifong was disbarred by the North Carolina Bar Association, the National District Attorneys Association issued its take on the case. “Nifong’s case is rarer than human rabies,” claimed Joshua Marquis, vice president of the group. “The defense bar is piling on and trying to claim this is typical behavior,” he bitterly complained.
So was Michael Nifong merely a “rogue” prosecutor, a feckless bad-apple amidst a scented orchard of ethical and civic-minded district attorneys?
You may remember the 1989 rape of the Central Park jogger and the accusation that five “wilding” teenagers had perpetrated the attack. But when the DNA test results did not match, the prosecutor had to claim the semen came from a sixth “mystery” member of the gang. Despite that dubious explanation, the five were convicted.
But 13 years later DNA evidence proved another man had committed the crime and the five were set free. Sorry about that, fellas.
Twenty-five years ago civil rights attorneys Barry Scheck and Peter Neufeld established the Innocence Project, a group dedicated to protecting the innocent through post-conviction DNA testing. Earlier this month the group registered its 205th exoneration, most of the cases involving false convictions of rape. Prosecutorial misconduct is a factor in 42% of DNA exonerations, they reveal. [Read]
Child sexual abuse is another charge that juices up any prosecutor with political aspirations.
In 1994, the small town of Wenatchee, Wash. was seized by a wave of sex abuse hysteria. Parents and Sunday school teachers were accused of child rape. Over two years, 43 adults were arrested on 29,726 charges of sex abuse involving 60 children. [Read]
Not a scrap of physical evidence was presented to support the charges and some witnesses later recanted their testimony. But that didn’t keep 17 of the accused from going to jail. ...
Border agent says China ordered his prosecution
A Customs and Border Protection agent who was acquitted of a charge of using excessive force during a 2004 arrest of a Chinese national on suspicion of drug smuggling is suing the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for $25 million.
And in a companion lawsuit, Robert Rhodes is seeking another $25 million from three Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents with the Office of Professional Responsibility.
He says the agents disregarded their oaths by pursuing a politically motivated prosecution against him to appease their superiors, who allegedly were seeking to do what communist China wanted.
"I was involved in a political prosecution that our government began at the demand of the government of communist China," Rhodes told WND. "The prosecution was promised to China by then-Secretary of State Colin Powell and then-Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Tom Ridge." ...

Judge Orders Government to Pay $101.75M for Wrongful Convictions in 1965 Murder Case

E-MAIL STORY PRINTER FRIENDLY VERSION
BOSTON — In a stinging rebuke of the FBI, a federal judge on Thursday ordered the government to pay a record judgment of nearly $102 million because agents withheld evidence that would have kept four men from spending decades in prison for a mob murder they did not commit.
Judge Nancy Gertner told a packed courtroom that agents were trying to protect informants when they encouraged a witness to lie, then withheld evidence they knew could prove the four men were not involved in the 1965 murder of Edward "Teddy" Deegan, a small-time thug shot in an alley.

Gertner said Boston FBI agents knew mob hitman Joseph "The Animal" Barboza lied when he named Joseph Salvati, Peter Limone, Henry Tameleo and Louis Greco as Deegan's killers. She said the FBI considered the four "collateral damage" in its war against the Mafia, the bureau's top priority in the 1960s.
Tameleo and Greco died behind bars, and Salvati and Limone spent three decades in prison before they were exonerated in 2001. Salvati, Limone and the families of the other men sued the federal government for malicious prosecution.
...Gertner said FBI agents Dennis Condon and H. Paul Rico not only withheld evidence of Barboza's lie, but told state prosecutors who were handling the Deegan murder investigation that they had checked out Barboza's story and it was true.
"The FBI's misconduct was clearly the sole cause of this conviction," the judge said.
The government had argued federal authorities had no duty to share information with state officials who prosecuted the men. Federal authorities cannot be held responsible for the results of a state prosecution, a Justice Department lawyer said.
Gertner rejected that argument.
"The government's position is, in a word, absurd," she said.

Some say schools giving Muslims special treatment
Some public schools and universities are granting Muslim requests for prayer times, prayer rooms and ritual foot baths, prompting a debate on whether Islam is being given preferential treatment over other religions.
The University of Michigan at Dearborn is planning to build foot baths for Muslim students who wash their feet before prayer. An elementary school in San Diego created an extra recess period for Muslim pupils to pray.
At George Mason University in Fairfax, Va., Muslim students using a "meditation space" laid out Muslim prayer rugs and separated men and women in accordance with their Islamic beliefs.
...
Christians would not get such treatment. This is not a nation based on Islam. One step at a time the enemy is destroying our country, culture, language, and borders.
BATFE TO RED'S: STOP EXPOSING US!
BATFE TO RED'S: STOP EXPOSING US!
We've been keeping our readers abreast of the trials endured by Red's Trading Post, Idaho's oldest gun shop, which has been targeted by the BATFE. You can read our previous updates on Red's (as well as links to news articles on this travesty) at www.jpfo.org/redstradingpost.htm or visit Red's own site at www.redstradingpost.com .
Despite having won an injuction to keep their business running, Red's is _still_ being harassed, seemingly because owner Ryan Horsley continues to speak publicly about the situation. On Tuesday of this week, David Codrea revealed in his "War on Guns" blog that BATFE agents "...had threatened [Ryan Horsley] that he needed to cease all blogging and keep their agents and inspectors free from being photographed or observed, or they would go to the judge and file a complaint of harassment."
You can read the blog and the complaint that the ATF subsequently filed against Horsley's exercise of the First Amendment here: http://waronguns.blogspot.com/2007/07/breaking-news-batfu-accuses-reds-of.html or http://tinyurl.com/2lv4ze .
We'd like to draw your attention especially to the line "...videotaping and photographing of ATF personnel is not disallowed by law or regulation; howevever, the use of those images ... are subject to certain restrictions." Considering the number of newsclips in which the ATF is featured bursting heroically into a houseful of alleged terrorists, those restrictions on video or photographs apparently only apply when they show the ATF in a bad light.
As desperately afraid the ATF is of having their firearms tests documented by videotape, one can hardly be surprised by this attitude.
We also found the following statement interesting: "[After an employee videotaped an inspection] Red's was notified that these images were not to be used _for any documentary_ or without the consent of the ATF." (emphasis ours). JPFO has produced two documentaries that show the BATFE in a bad light, _BATFE Fails the Test_ ( http://shop.jpfo.org/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=38 ) and _The Gang_ ( www.thegangmovie.com ). BATFE knows this, and knows that we've been closely monitoring the situation at Red's. Could this have been a ploy to prevent us from publicizing Red's case in a future documentary?
We urge you to read the complaint. The ATF wants to hide its dirty deeds -- it's up to us to expose them for what they are. Share the links with everyone you know, and remember: the more people who see _The Gang_, the sooner we can shut down this rogue agency.

Another Handbill to Mock Another Politician
In our continuing effort to "Humiliate and Repudiate" those politicians who support Nazi-based 'gun control' laws, JPFO proudly presents our latest handbill at www.jpfo.org/handbilldodd.jpg . In it Senator Christopher Dodd is shown under a headline that will no doubt lead to his indulging in plenty of back-pedaling, excuse-making, weasle-words and Washington double-speak!

'Blog' puts fear into gun shop inspectors
A team of inspectors from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives fled an Idaho gun shop where they were inspecting sales records when they learned their actions were being recorded on a blog.
The federal agency and Red's Trading Post of Twin Falls, Idaho, have been disputing for six years already over the store's license to sell firearms, with regulators using rules infractions such as a missing poster to attack Red's business operations.
WND documented earlier how the store appears to be caught up in a new campaign for gun control, focusing on the elimination of retail outlets through technical rules infractions.
Now the federal agency has gone to court with a report that its inspectors "suspended" their work at the store recently because of the "threat to the inspectors' safety created by Ryan Horsley, the Manager of Red's."
Comment: the Nazis don't want their conduct recorded.
BATF - Jackboots -taking their photo deemed harassment
BREAKING NEWS: BATFU ACCUSES RED'S OF "HARASSMENT AND INTIMIDATION"
I've been sitting on some facts for a few days at the request of Ryan Horsley. BATFU had threatened him that he needed to cease all blogging and keep their agents and inspectors free from being photographed or observed, or they would go to the judge and file a complaint of harassment. Ryan was in a dilemma--he has been single-handedly bearing the burden of his defense against a fe(de)ral government with practically unlimited resources--yet if he continued to allow his persecutors to operate in the dark, that is where they would kill Red's.
The new complaint is calculated to be a death blow to Red's--both financially with additional legal expenses they cannot afford, and by giving the judge an excuse to side with thugs portraying themselves as victims.
Blogger doesn't give me the capability to present .pdf files, so I have converted the documents sent to the judge into jpegs:

Letters from Zimbabwe
Letters from Zimbabwe
Gun prohibitionists often laugh when told that the Second Amendment exists in part to ensure that citizens can fight their own government should it be necessary. "Nonsense," they scoff. "Maybe we needed that 200 years ago, but times are different now. Governments _help_ people."
Really?
Visit http://www.cathybuckle.com/july2007.shtml , which is a first-person account, present day, from Zimbabwe. Our book _Death by "Gun Control"_ ( www.jpfo.org/deathgc.htm ) has a chapter on Zimbabwe, in which we warned -- in 2001! -- about the consequences of citizen disarmament in that country. We also cover Zimbabwe in our documentary _Innocents Betrayed_ ( www.innocentsbetrayed.com ).
Our fears were well-placed. There doesn't have to be outright Nazi-style genocide for there to be massive oppression and suffering with government's consent and approval. This story also highlights what happens when government assumes command of the economy. Exactly what happened in the Soviet Union and in Red China is happening all over again in Zimbabwe.
People claim that humanity learned from those awful experiences. It hasn't. The UN, being a socialist enclave, does nothing about it. The US, cowed by political correctness, apparently has no comment.
So these poor folks suffer, starve and die, at the hands of the government that first disarmed them.

Carter Planted Seeds Of Al-Qaida
Leadership: After being told over and over by President Jimmy Carter that America's ability to influence world events was "very limited," the Soviet Union believed him and invaded Afghanistan. And al-Qaida was born.
Carter had the perfect "anti-slogan" for a post-Watergate presidential campaign: "I will never lie to you."
Unfortunately, Carter based America's relationship with the Soviet Union on the delusion that the Russians would never lie to him. He infamously expressed shock that Soviet premier Leonid Brezhnev lied to him during a "hot line" phone call following the Russian invasion of Afghanistan in 1979.
President Jimmy Carter and General Secretary of the Soviet Union Leonid Brezhnev exchanged American-style handshakes and Russian-style embraces on June 19, 1979, after signing the Strategic Arms Limitation Talks (SALT II) Agreement. Six months later, the U.S.S.R. invaded Afghanistan.

Radical Muslim paramilitary compound flourishes in upper New York state
Situated within a dense forest at the foothills of the Catskill Mountains on the outskirts of Hancock, New York, Islamberg is not an ideal place for a summer vacation unless, of course, you are an exponent of the Jihad or a fan of Osama bin Laden.
The 70 acre complex is surrounded with "No trespassing" signs; the rocky terrain is infested with rattlesnakes; and the woods are home to black bears, coyotes, wolves, and a few bobcats.
Muslim Lane
The entrance to the community is at the bottom of a very steep hill that is difficult to navigate even on a bright sunny day in May. The road, dubbed Muslim Lane, is unpaved and marred by deep crevices that have been created by torrential downpours. On a wintry day, few, save those with all terrain vehicles, could venture forth from the remote encampment.
A sentry post has been established at the base of the hill.
The sentry, at the time of this visit, is an African American dressed in Islamic garb - - a skull cap, a prayer shawl, and a loose fitting shalwat kameez. He instructs us to turn around and leave. "Our community is not open to visitors," he says.
Behind the sentry and across a small stream stand dozens of inhabitants of the compound - - the men wearing skull caps and loose fitting tunics, the women in full burqa. They appear ready to deal with any unauthorized intruders.
The hillside is blighted by rusty trailers that appear to be without power or running water and a number of outhouses. The scent of raw sewage is in the air.
The place is even off limits to the local undertaker who says that he has delivered bodies to the complex but has never been granted entrance. "They come and take the bodies from my hearse. They won't allow me to get past the sentry post. They say that they want to prepare the bodies for burial. But I never get the bodies back. I don't know what's going on there but I don't think it's legal."
On the other side of the hill where few dare to go is a tiny village replete with a make-shift learning center (dubbed the "International Quranic Open University"); a trailer converted into a Laundromat; a small, green community center; a small and rather squalid grocery store; a newly constructed majid; over forty clapboard homes; and scores of additional trailers.
It is home to hundreds - - all in Islamic attire, and all African-Americans. Most drive late model SUVs with license plates from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, South Carolina, and Tennessee. The locals say that some work as tollbooth operators for the New York State Thruway, while others are employed at a credit card processing center that maintains confidential financial records.
While buzzing with activity during the week, the place becomes a virtual hive on weekends. The guest includes arrivals from the inner cities of New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania and, occasionally, white-robed dignitaries in Ray-Bans from the Middle East.
Venturing into the complex last summer, Douglas Hagmann, an intrepid investigator and director of the Northeast Intelligence Service, came upon a military training area at the eastern perimeter of the property. The area was equipped with ropes hanging from tall trees, wooden fences for scaling, a make-shift obstacle course, and a firing range. Hagmann said that the range appeared to have been in regular use. ...

'Taxi jihad': Police renew focus on Muslim cabbies
With the arrest of a Philadelphia taxi cab driver in the Fort Dix terror plot, authorities are paying closer attention to Muslim cabbies, many of whom are militant believers, WND has learned.
Mohamad Ibrahim Shnewer, a U.S. citizen born in Jordan, was charged earlier this week with conspiring to kill at least 100 soldiers on U.S. soil. The FBI says the 22-year-old drove a cab in Philadelphia.
"My intent is to hit a heavy concentration of soldiers," said Shnewer, the alleged mastermind of the terror plot.
Muslims account for the majority of cab drivers in many major U.S. cities – including the nation's capital. And a number of them have ties to terrorism, federal and local authorities say. ..
U.S. proposal to allow chicken imports from China raises health concerns
WASHINGTON: In China, some farmers try to maximize the output from their small plots by flooding produce with unapproved pesticides, pumping livestock with antibiotics banned in other countries and using human feces as fertilizer to increase soil productivity.
But the questionable practices do not end there: Chicken pens are frequently suspended over ponds where seafood is raised, recycling chicken waste as a food source for seafood, according to a leading food safety expert who served as adviser to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Suspect Chinese agricultural practices could soon affect consumers in the United States. Government authorities are working on a proposal to allow chickens raised, slaughtered, and cooked in China to be sold in the United States, and under current regulations, store labels do not have to indicate the origin of the poultry.

SO…. WILL YOU STAND, FIGHT, HIDE OR SURRENDER?
....We are going to experience a seismic shift in government, a most likely war with catastrophic impact between the US, Iran and Syria. Through the Bush/Congress/Ashcroft “Patriot Act,” we will witness the final loss of our Bill of Rights, a serious internal provocation, and then fighting in the streets.
The government cannot wait to exert its final and irrevocable control over the entire American citizenry. It salivates at the thought of turning the “dogs of (internal) war” loose on the streets of our communities. These government provocateurs consider patriots, who believe that the 14th, 16th and 17th amendments have helped bring ruin to America, as worthy enemies to be hunted down and silenced. It is counting the number of shackles, railroad boxcars, detention facility mats and magazine rounds it will take to forever subdue the resistance that will be offered by patriots who will make their final stands for the American Republic and fellow “citizens” who cower in their basements....
We are at war with Islam. They want war. Without it and the eradication of Israel, Islam cannot see the return of their “savior.” They will attempt to bring about the utter destruction of America. Washington’s legions of conspirators, socialists, and Wall Street sellouts to the world business elites have indeed conspired with the bankers, the Illuminati element and home grown leftist terrorists to bring our sovereignty down and make us ripe for the international picking. Some are disguised as illegal border runners from Mexico. All have one thing in common. Destroy America at any cost. With our purposely unprotected wide open southern borders, government has made it so easy....

Democrat and Republican politicians want open borders and plenty of cheap illegal labor for their business supporters. After illegals steal our jobs, reduce our wages and benefits, we are forced to pay benefits to illegals so criminal employers and politicians can enjoy blood money from slave wages. It is blood money because Americans were killed to get it.
Old People Must hurry Up and Die Or Fight to save what is left of their continuously reduced Social Security, Medicare and Veterans Benefits by demanding that Government not allow any costly illegals to remain in America under any circumstances. We can not afford illegals .Every under educated illegal head of household costs taxpayers $22,000 a year more than they contribute, which is $1,000,000 per lifetime.
Old People will soon Die Homeless, Hungry and in Pain if illegals are allowed to remain in this country on any basis. We know from last amnesty, and sub standard education, that most illegals will continue getting government benefits for life, which will destroy Social Security, Medicare, Veterans and most benefits for Americans.
Those who advocate, and profit from the retention of illegals, when they kill, rob, rape and molest thousands of Americans, while stealing our jobs and benefits, are nothing less than agenda driven Slave Masters willing to sell us into Slavery for Blood Money.
Twenty Eight per cent of federal and state convicts are illegals and they are only 4% of our population. Many illegals are arrested six times before they are even prosecuted, and some federal officials will not prosecute for marijuana unless they have 500 lbs. Criminal employers and most politicians do not care how many Americans are victims of illegals so long as they get their Blood Money from Slave Wages.
Your property taxes are too high because you are paying for the education of the children of illegals who have been given citizenship and every possible benefit contrary to the constitution. Citizenship for the children of illegals must stop, we can not afford it...
Nazi threat to free speech in the USA -
Liberal Democrats are attempting to muzzle conservative talk radio: they are assaulting free speech. Like the communists in the former Soviet Union, America’s liberals seek to crush dissent by consolidating control over the media—especially talk radio, which has emerged as the dominant medium for conservative opinion.
Allies close to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi are promoting legislation, which if passed, will take off the air prominent conservative radio hosts such as Michael Savage, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Bill O’Reilly—along with thousands of smaller conservative broadcasters. The bill, entitled the "Media Ownership Reform Act," is sponsored by Rep. Maurice Hinchey, a leftist Democrat from New York. The legislation aims to revive the so-called “Fairness Doctrine” of the 1940’s: “all views” are to be given equal time on radio. In particular, the Federal Communications Commission would have the power to oversee and change radio and television content. The goal is to tilt the ideological balance of power away from the right on the nation’s air waves.
The real force behind the effort to censor conservative talk radio is the progressive–philanthropist, George Soros. The radical leftist billionaire has made no secret of his hatred for conservatives. He says President Bush has transformed America into a militaristic, “fascist” empire. Moreover, Soros champions many of liberalism’s chic causes: abortion on demand, legalization of drugs, homosexual marriage, euthanasia, unlimited Third World immigration, open borders, and one-world government anchored in the United Nations. He advocates all the issues that are anathema to popular radio talk-show hosts like Savage, Limbaugh and Hannity. Hence, he wants these commentators to be exiled to the political wilderness.
At a recent National Conference for Media Reform, sponsored by Free Press, a Massachusetts-based group heavily subsidized by Soros, Hinchey laid bare his plan to silence conservative voices on television and radio. The anti-war McGovernite attacked Savage, Limbaugh and other conservative radio hosts, saying they were “responsible” for leading the U.S. into the Iraq war, as well as for preparing the ground for future military invasions of Iran and Syria. According to Hinchey, these men pose a “threat” to American national security. Hence, under his bill, they would be fired.
"All of that stuff will end," Hinchey said.

Christian sues to halt mosque construction
A Florida man filed a lawsuit to prevent construction of a mosque in his neighborhood, claiming it "presents a substantial harm to the well-being, safety and health" of his community.
Rodney Wright named in his complaint the Islamic Center of South Florida, the South Florida office of the Council on American Islamic Relations, or CAIR, and its national office.
He is represented by Larry Klayman, known for this numerous lawsuits against the Clinton administration in the 1990s as head of the government watchdog Judicial Watch.
Klayman, now an attorney in south Florida, is acting in response to the Pompano Beach City Council's "dangerous decision" to grant permission for the building of a 29,000- square-foot "radical suspect mosque" in an area "almost entirely Christian and African-American," according to an outspoken critic of the move, Rev. Gonzales Wants Arbitrary Power to Block Gun Purchases; SAF Says He Should Resign
BELLEVUE, Wash., May 1 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Attorney General Alberto Gonzales' troubling support of legislation that would allow him and future attorneys general the arbitrary power to block firearms purchases without due process is cause for him to step down as the nation's highest ranking law enforcement officer, the Second Amendment Foundation said today.
The bill, S. 1237, was introduced last week at the Justice Department's request by Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ), one of the most extreme anti-gunners in Congress. Called the "Denying Firearms and Explosives to Dangerous Terrorists Act
of 2007," this legislation would give the Attorney General discretionary authority to deny the purchase of a firearm or the issuance of a firearm license or permit because of some vague suspicion that an American citizen may be up to no good.
..."We're not surprised that General Gonzales has found an agreeable sponsor in Frank Lautenberg," Gottlieb observed. "The senator from New Jersey has never seen a restrictive gun control scheme he did not immediately embrace, and S. 1237 is loaded with red flags. It would allow an appointed bureaucrat the authority to suspend or cancel someone's Second Amendment right without even being charged with a crime.
"Attorney General Gonzales has no business asking for that kind of power over any tenet in the Bill of Rights," Gottlieb said. "He took an oath to uphold the Constitution, not trample it. Perhaps it is time for him to go."
...
"This bill," said SAF founder Alan Gottlieb, "raises serious concerns about how someone becomes a 'suspected terrorist.' Nobody has explained how one gets their name on such a list, and worse, nobody knows how to get one's name off such a list.

Red's Trading Post Granted Injunction to Continue Operations
TWIN FALLS, ID, MAY 1, 2007- US District Judge Edward Lodge has granted Red’s Trading Post an injunction to continue their full operation. The ATF had maintained that Red’s was a threat to public safety because of the minor violations which included paperwork errors that amounted to less that one percent. Red’s Trading Post had a 99.6% success rate in their 2005 audit, yet the ATF maintained that Red’s had “willfully” violated their policies. The word “willful” was added in 1986 by Reagan and Congress to protect dealers, it is the responsibility of the ATF to prove that Dealers “willfully” committed violations. The ATF made the decision to partially revoke Red’s license in early March, only allowing them to sell their remaining firearms. ATF DIO Richard Van Loan made the decision to no longer allow Red’s the ability to acquire firearms. Van Loan stated that this position was to protect the Public Safety. Van Loan had also made the decision to deny Red’s request to continue supplying firearms to Law Enforcement as well.
Judge Lodge noted in making his decision that “the ATF speaks of violations found during the inspections of 2000 and 2005, but fails to reveal that additional investigations in 2001 and 2007 revealed no violations or problems.” He also notes Red’s statement that ATF is exaggerating Red’s conduct by “double counting” certain violations. Also noted was the balance of the ATF’s hardship compared to Red’s hardship. The judge found “that granting the preliminary injunction would not place the public safety in jeopardy” and “that that the relative hardships tip sharply in favor of Red’s.”
Manager Ryan Horsley states “We are very pleased with the Judge’s decision to allow us to continue to our full operation during the court proceedings. For over 70 years my family has operated Red’s with honor and integrity and we will continue to do so.” There has yet to be a court date set. Red’s Trading Post was established in 1936 by Horsley’s great grandfather and is Idaho’s Oldest Gun Shop.
ABOUT RED'S TRADING POST:

Another border agent charged with murder
A surveillance videotape currently playing on YouTube is giving a "Here we go again!" feel to the decision by prosecutors to charge yet another U.S. Border Patrol Agent, Nicholas Corbett, with murder.
The video appears to involve an incident on the California border where a Border Patrol agent shoots in the chest an illegal alien who appears ready to hit him with a rock.
Interestingly, there are actually two border patrol cases that fit this scenario.
A date stamp on the video identifies the incident occurring on March 26, 2007, at the border near Calexico, Mexico.
The video is being widely identified on the Internet with the Corbett incident, But the Corbett incident occurred Jan. 12, 2007.
Both incidents involve remarkably similar circumstances – a Border Patrol Agent who shoots an illegal immigrant in the chest at close range to prevent the illegal immigrant from hitting him with a rock. ...

DUI illegal kills pedestrian week after given probation

As it is, Melendres is back in jail for a second offense, this time charged with DWI, felony hit-and-run, driving with a license revoked, not having insurance and a registration violation, the Charlotte, North Carolina, Observer reported.
Sims, who was hit while crossing a Charlotte street earlier this week, died at the scene.
Melendres continued to a friend's home and was found because a driver who saw the accident followed his car and contacted police. The illegal alien, who has lived and worked in North Carolina for at least 13 months, denied involvement when questioned by officers. ...
U.N. Readies for Draft on Small Arms Control Treaty
United Nations, 25 April (IPS):- Against the backdrop of a new national poll calling for stricter gun control in the wake of the mass killings of 32 people on a U.S. university campus last week, the United Nations is getting ready to formulate a new international treaty regulating the proliferation of small arms worldwide.
"There is not yet a draft," said Jennifer Abrahamson of Oxfam International, one of the lead organizations campaigning for the treaty, along with the London-based Amnesty International and International Action Network on Small Arms (IANSA).
"What's happening now is that governments are due to turn in their blueprints of what they believe a draft should look like," she added.
The hard deadline is the end of April, but submissions by the 192 U.N. member states will be accepted through Jun. 20.
"This is the first real action that will lead to a treaty," Abrahamson told IPS. ..
Comment: What allowed the killing of 32 people in a shooting rampage at Virginia Tech campus was the denial of the God given right of self defense to the victims. An armed victim could have terminated the threat, and wouldn't be a victim today.
Britain becoming a Big Brother society, says data watchdog
Britain is in danger of "committing slow social suicide" as such Big Brother techniques as surveillance cameras and recording equipment spread into every aspect of our lives, the nation's information watchdog will warn this week.
A new report from Richard Thomas, the information commissioner, will say that the public needs to be made more aware of the "creeping encroachment" on civil liberties created by email monitoring, CCTV and computer tracking of our buying habits.
It is understood that one of the concerns in Mr Thomas's report is the use of special listening devices which can be placed in lamp posts, street furniture and offices. These are already widely used in the Netherlands to combat crime and anti-social behaviour.
More than 300 of the cameras with built-in microphones have been fitted in benefit offices and city centres. The equipment can pick up aggressive tones on the basis of decibel level, pitch and speed at which words are spoken.
Westminster council has already started piloting the listening devices, but experts say the use of these microphones raises questions about how surveillance can be used to intrude into the private lives of citizens.

Case Against Marines Unraveled
Military Justice: The case against the Haditha Marines unravels as murder charges are dropped against one and the court hearing of two others is postponed. Will we soon be hearing John Murtha's apology?
The seemingly forgotten incident began as a Marine convoy of the Camp Pendleton-based Kilo Company, Third Battalion, First Marine Regiment, was passing through the town of Haditha in the contested Iraqi province of Anbar on Nov. 19, 2005. A roadside improvised explosive device (IED) went off, killing Lance Cpl. Miguel Terrazas, 20, of El Paso, Texas, who was on his second tour of duty.
After the initial attack, the Marines took small arms fire from nearby houses. They returned fire and went house to house searching for their attackers. For their efforts in responding to an insurgent ambush, four Marines were charged with murder, accused of engaging in a rampage of revenge for their fallen comrade.
...
Comment: Tom provided this comment --- Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., is guilty of treason. When will we start supporting our military? The war should be fought to defeat the enemy. That means hunt the enemy bastards down and kill them (bury them with a dead pig). When a "suicide" bomber kills, his remains should be placed inside the body of a dead pig. If a town supports the enemy, bomb it into the stone age and leave it as a reminder. If they surrender, then the war can end. As to the news about fighting near the "holy mosques", it seems there is nothing holy about them. If they shelter and aid the enemy, then blow the enemy camp up. Bush has been a trojan horse. He has imposed restictions on our troops ability to fight and defend. Further, he has allowed the enemy to invade our own country. God Bless Our American Troops, and may God protect them. As for you cowardy anti-Americans - go to hell.
Well Tom, your view is very clear. How many Americans feel this way? How many Americans have the strength to actually take a stand?
Expert offers teachers free weapons training
'Guns cause shootings like cameras cause pornography'
The mad homicidal rampages in American schools will halt when attackers find out that faculty and students sometimes are armed and trained to use those weapons effectively, so an expert in the defensive use of guns is offering free training to educators.
"In our country, every time a misguided individual on psychiatric drugs goes on a killing spree, anti-self defense legislators watch the polls and exploit the dead victims in order to fool the public into accepting more gun control," said Ignatius Piazza, founder of Front Sight Firearms Training Institute.

Airport adds foot basins for Muslim cabbies
The Kansas City International Airport has added several foot-washing basins in restrooms to accommodate a growing number of Muslim taxicab drivers who requested the facilities to prepare for daily Islamic prayer, WND has learned.
The move concerns airport police who worry about Middle Eastern men loitering inside the building. After 9/11, the airport beefed up its police force to help prevent terrorist attacks.
"Why are we constructing places of worship for them inside our airports?" said an airport official who requested anonymity. "Why are we catering to their rituals? We don't do it for any other religion."
Other major airports also are dealing with increased demands from Muslim cabdrivers. ...

Congressional Leaders Moving To Pass Gun Control Without A Vote!
Thursday, April 26, 2007
This is going to be a knock-down, drag-out fight. GOA continues to stand alone in the trenches, defending the rights of gun owners around the country. It's not going to be easy.
Gun control supporters want to pass gun control within the next couple of weeks. And that's why, even if you took action earlier this week, you need to do so once again.
All the gun haters (who have been keeping silent for a while) are now coming out of the closet and into the open. Take the notoriously anti-gun senator from New York -- Chuck Schumer. He has been very, very excited this week. Recent events have given him a platform, and the excuse, to push legislation that he had sponsored years ago -- legislation that never got through Congress.
You see, Senator Chuck Schumer has been, in past years, the Senate sponsor of the McCarthy bill (HR 297). And the recent murders at Virginia Tech have given Senator Schumer the pretext he has been looking for. Appearing on the Bill O'Reilly show earlier this week, Schumer did his best to make a reasonable-sounding pitch for more gun control.
He told O'Reilly on Monday that while he and Rep. McCarthy had previously worked together on this legislation, he now wants Congress to take up HR 297 quickly. "The Brady Law is a reasonable limitation," Schumer said. "Some might disagree with me, but I think certain kinds of licensing and registration is a reasonable limitation. We do it for cars."
Get the picture? First, he wants the Brady Law strengthened with the McCarthy-Dingell-Schumer legislation. Then it's off to pass more gun control -- treating guns like cars, where all gun owners are licensed and where bureaucrats will have a wonderful confiscation list.
In the O'Reilly interview, Schumer showed his hand when he revealed the strategy for this bill. Because it could become such a hot potato -- thanks to your efforts -- Senator Schumer is pushing to get this bill passed by Unanimous Consent in the Senate, which basically means that the bill would get passed WITHOUT A VOTE.
This is a perfect way to pass gun control without anyone getting blamed... or so they think. We need to tell every Senator that if this bill passes without a vote, then we hold ALL OF THEM responsible. (Be looking for a future GOA alert aimed at your Senators.)
On the House side, the Associated Press reported this past Monday that "House Democratic leaders are working with the National Rifle Association to bolster existing laws blocking" certain prohibited persons from buying guns. Of course, there are at least three problems with this approach:
1. It's morally and constitutionally wrong to require law-abiding citizens to first prove their innocence to the government before they can exercise their rights -- whether it's Second Amendment rights, First Amendment rights, or any other right. Doing that gives bureaucrats the opportunity to abuse their power and illegitimately prevent honest gun owners from buying guns.
2. Bureaucrats have already used the Brady Law to illegitimately deny the Second Amendment rights of innocent Americans. Americans have been prevented from buying guns because of outstanding traffic tickets, because of errors, because the NICS computer system has crashed -- and don't forget returning veterans because of combat-related stress. You give an anti-gun bureaucrat an inch, he'll take a mile -- which we have already seen as GOA has documented numerous instances of the abuses mentioned above.
3. Finally, all the background checks in the world will NOT stop bad guys from getting firearms. As we mentioned in the previous alert, severe restrictions in Washington, DC, England, Canada, Germany and other places have not stopped evil people from using guns to commit murder. (Correction: In our previous alert, we incorrectly identified Ireland as the location of the infamous schoolyard massacre. In fact, it took place in Dunblane, Scotland in 1996 -- a country which at the time had even more stringent laws than we have here.)
McCARTHY BILL TREATING GUN OWNERS WORSE THAN TERRORISTS
HR 297 would require the states to turn over mountains of personal data (on people like you) to the FBI -- any information which according to the Attorney General, in his or her unilateral discretion, would be useful in ascertaining who is or is not a "prohibited person."
Liberal support for this bill points out an interesting hypocrisy in their loyalties: For six years, congressional Democrats have complained about the Bush administration's efforts to obtain personal information on suspected terrorists WITHOUT A COURT ORDER.
And yet, this bill would allow the FBI to obtain massive amounts of information -- information which dwarfs any records obtained from warrantless searches (or wiretaps) that have been conducted by the Bush Administration on known or suspected terrorists operating in the country.
In fact, HR 297 would allow the FBI to get this information on honest Americans (like you) even though the required data is much more private and personal than any information obtained thus far by the Bush administration on terrorists.
And all of these personal records would be obtained by the FBI with no warrant or judicial or Congressional oversight whatsoever!!!
Get the picture? Spying on terrorists is bad... but spying on honest gun owners is good. After all, this horrific intrusion on the private lives of all Americans is presumed to be "okay" because it's only being used to bash guns, not to go after terrorists and criminals who are trying to kill us.
As indicated in earlier alerts, this information could include your medical, psychological, financial, education, employment, traffic, state tax records and more. We don't even know the full extent of what could be included because HR 297 -- which can be viewed at http://thomas.loc.gov by typing in the bill number -- is so open-ended. It requires states to provide the NICS system with ALL RECORDS that the Attorney General believes will help the FBI determine who is and who is not a prohibited person. Certainly, an anti-gun AG like Janet Reno would want as many types of records in the system as possible.
The provision that would probably lead to the greatest number of 'fishing expeditions' is that related to illegal aliens. Federal law prohibits illegal aliens from owning guns. The bill requires all "relevant" data related to who is in this country illegally. But what records pertaining to illegal aliens from the states would be relevant? Perhaps a better question would be, what records are not relevant?
ACTION:
1. Please take a moment to communicate your opposition to HR 297 -- even if you already sent your Representative a note earlier this week. We have provided a new letter (below) which provides updated information relating to the battle we are fighting.
House leaders are talking about bringing up this bill soon. And Sen. Schumer (in his interview with O'Reilly) even hinted at the fact that the bill could come up WITHOUT the ability to offer pro-gun amendments -- such as a repeal of the DC gun ban or reciprocity for concealed carry holders -- provisions that could potentially serve as killer amendments.
Also -- oh yeah, this is going to upset you -- Senator Schumer told O'Reilly, "I got to tell you, a lot of NRA people, they support this." Can you believe that? Senator Schumer is claiming to speak for you! That’s why it's so important that you once again tell your congressman that Schumer is wrong... that you're a supporter of gun rights who OPPOSES the anti-gun McCarthy-Dingell bill.
2. Please circulate this e-mail and forward it to as many gun owners as you can.
CONTACT INFORMATION: You can visit the Gun Owners Legislative Action Center to send your Representative the pre-written e-mail message below. And, you can call your Representative toll-free at 1-877-762-8762.
----- Pre-written letter -----
Dear Representative:
As a supporter of Second Amendment rights, I do NOT support HR 297, the NICS Improvement Act. I hope that you will OPPOSE this bill and urge your party leadership to either kill it outright or to allow other pro-gun amendments to be offered (repeal of the DC gun ban, reciprocity for concealed carry holders, etc.).
In its current form, HR 297 will treat gun owners even worse than terrorists, giving the FBI a mountain of private information on law-abiding Americans like me.
How is it that, despite all the criticism over the Bush administration's attempts to obtain personal information on suspected terrorists without a court order, this bill would allow the FBI to obtain massive amounts of information on ME -- information which dwarfs any warrantless searches (or wiretaps) that have been conducted by the Bush Administration on known or suspected terrorists operating in the country.
And all of this personal information would be obtained by the FBI with no warrant or judicial or Congressional oversight whatsoever!!!
How is it that spying on terrorists is bad, but spying on honest gun owners is good?
Again, I hope that you will oppose HR 297. Gun Owners of America will continue to keep me informed on the progress of this bill. Thank you.
Sincerely,
********

Oakland resolutions condemn federal immigration raids
(04-25) 18:22 PDT OAKLAND -- Oakland city officials today announced two new resolutions condemning recent federal immigration raids and formalizing the city's intention not to cooperate with the U.S. government effort to deport undocumented residents.
The resolutions, one by Mayor Ron Dellums and the other by Council President Ignacio De La Fuente, both condemn the recent raids, which included one on Friday at an East Oakland manufacturer.
Both resolutions are also an effort to update Oakland's 1986 "City of Refuge" ordinance which only applies to refugees fleeing political violence in Haiti, El Salvador, Nicaragua and South Africa, De La Fuente said. His proposed ordinance would give refuge to any undocumented immigrant regardless of national origin.

comment: Why aren't these SOB's being prosecuted for conspiracy to violate federal law? Recall that this is the same City which imposed a business destruction tax on gun stores. Do you think these traitors would even consider standing up against the Feds in the case of federal laws which violate your American Bill of Rights (i.e., your Individual Right to Keep and Bear Arms)?
Ultra-violent gang found in 42 states
SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador – Cliques of the ultra-violent Latin American MS-13 gang have been identified in 42 U.S. states, according to the director of an FBI task force, speaking at a conference here.
Another violent group, the 18th Street Gang, is in 37 states, said Brian Truchon, director of the FBI MS-13 National Gang Task Force, or NGTF.
As WND reported, Truchon spoke at the Third Gang Enforcement Conference 2007 conference, which is focusing on MS-13.
"One thing we figured out with the on-going cases was that Los Angeles is our starting point," Truchon stressed. "When the gang migrates throughout the U.S., there is always a road back to L.A. From L.A., there is always a road back to Central America."
The FBI has identified 13 core cities for MS-13 in the U.S.: Los Angeles, Washington, Baltimore, New York, Houston, Charlotte, Sacramento, Seattle, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Omaha, Newark and Boston. ...
Exploiting a Tragedy
Exploiting a Tragedy
The gun-prohibitionists are taking full advantage of last weeks' horrific killings at Virginia Tech University to push more "gun-control" legislation in the form of HR 297, The NICS Improvement Act of 2007. Introduced back in January by Representative Carolyn McCarthy (aka the "Queen of Gun Control"), HR 297 is intended among other things to dangerously broaden the definition of "mental illness" for the purpose of denying firearms purchases.
Section (102)(c)(3) states:
"The State shall make available to the Attorney General ... the name and other relevant identifying information of persons adjudicated as mentally defective or those committed to mental institutions to assist the Attorney General in enforcing section 922(g)(4) of title 18, United States Code."
Can you imagine? ANYONE who has been to a mental institution or "adjudicated as mentally defective" would have their name and identifying information sent to the federal government.
It doesn't matter if you needed assistance coping with the devastating loss of a loved one or combat-related post-traumatic stress disorder. It doesn't matter if you only stayed for a night to reassure a worried spouse. Regardless of circumstances, your information would be still be submitted and you would no longer be permitted to purchase a firearm.
The NRA is unabashedly enthusiastic about HR 297. They cheerfully assure us that the bill is designed to "fix problems" with recordkeeping while improving the availability of criminal history and "other" records for conducting background checks. ( http://www.nra-ila.org/Issues/FactSheets/Read.aspx?id=197 )
Perhaps they should consider the words of President Lyndon B. Johnson, who said, "You do not examine legislation in the light of the benefits it will convey if properly administered, but in the light of the wrongs it would do and the harms it would cause if improperly administered."
As an educational organization, JPFO is not permitted to have a particular stance on this or any other legislation, but we do know flawed logic when we see it. So does Gun Owners of America, who calls HR 297 a "bureaucratic fishing expedition into your private records, including your financial, employment, and hospital records." ( http://www.gunowners.org/a042307.htm )
In theory, if you were found not to have a mental illness, your name could be removed from the list. But in this day and age of such pyschiatric diagnoses as "Oppositional Defiance Disorder" and "Caffeine Dependence Syndrome", what's the likelihood of escaping without such a label?
The unintended consequences are obvious to any thinking person. As a result of HR 297, more people who do need mental help will avoid getting it. Fearing the consequent loss of their rights, individuals will refuse to visit a therapist or mental facility, and will therefore be MORE likely to "snap" when the pressure becomes too great to bear.
In one fell swoop, HR 297 will totally negate the decades of progress that have been made in de-stigmatizing mental therapy, while increasing the likelihood of repeating last Monday's slaughter.
Naturally, like any other "gun control" legislation, HR 297 would be enforced by the BATFE, giving them even more power to harrass and intimidate gun owners and dealers.
Way to go, Rep. McCarthy.

Professor axed for VT stunt: Re-enacted tragedy to tout pro-gun perspective
An Emmanuel College professor has been fired after re-enacting the Virginia Tech massacre in his classroom in order to air a pro-gun viewpoint that offended students at the Catholic liberal arts school, the professor charged yesterday.
Nicholas Winset said he was terminated and permanently barred from campus following a Wednesday lecture in which he dramatized the massacre to show that deranged gunman Cho Seung-Hui could have been stopped if another student had been carrying a gun.
“If there were more guns in society, the response time to the (rampage) might have been much faster,” said Winset, an adjunct professor of financial accounting. “Someone might have been able to do something to stop it.” ..
Comment: The anti Bill of Rights group are more concerned about "feelings" and "being offended" than having people killed by a deranged killer. It sounds like the professor was merely trying to get the students to think about self defense, and the fact that you don't have to just sit there and be murdered. Of course the political prostitutes would prefer dead bodies so that they can pretend to care. In a local town, we have a "priest" who started giving the sermon in mexican. Out of the entire church there were only 2 mexicans (immigration status ?? / they were "new" in town). If the "priest" wanted to speak mexican, then go to mexico. These fake priests are destroying America and the Catholic Church.
Reid: Congress Will Endorse Iraq Pullout
WASHINGTON (AP) - Defying a fresh veto threat, the Democratic-controlled Congress will pass legislation within days requiring the withdrawal of U.S. combat troops from Iraq beginning Oct. 1, with a goal of completing the pullout six months later, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Monday.
Reid said the legislation "immediately transitions the U.S. military away from policing a civil war." He said that troops that remain in Iraq after next April 1 could only train Iraqi security units, protect U.S forces and conduct "targeted counter-terror operations."
Comment: The damn politicians should be sent over to Iraq without any weapons and left there to fend for themselves. When you send troops to fight a war, they deserve our full support and we should back them in seeking out the enemy and killing the enemy. If the enemy wants to end it, their only options should be - surrender or die. The limited rules of engagement are BS.
Soldier: Honor troops like Va. Tech dead
KABUL, Afghanistan - An Army sergeant complained in a rare opinion article that the U.S. flag flew at half-staff last week at the largest U.S. base in Afghanistan for those killed at Virginia Tech but the same honor is not given to fallen U.S. troops here and in Iraq.
In the article issued Monday by the public affairs office at Bagram military base north of Kabul, Sgt. Jim Wilt lamented that his comrades' deaths have become a mere blip on the TV screen, lacking the "shock factor" to be honored by the Stars and Stripes as the deaths at Virginia Tech were

Liviu Librescu Scholarship Awarded By Dr. Ignatius Piazza
and Front Sight Firearms Training Institute to the Students
Professor Librescu Saved During the Virginia Tech Massacre
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: When the shooting attack reached his
classroom, 76 year old Liviu Librescu, a Holocaust survivor
and Israeli engineering and math lecturer at Virginia Tech,
blocked the doorway with his body and commanded his
students to flee. Professor Librescu's heroic actions
allowed his students to escape through open windows saving
their lives at the expense of his own.
Dr. Ignatius Piazza, Founder and Director of Front Sight
Firearms Training Institute near Las Vegas, NV, is honoring
Professor Librescu's valiant stand to protect his students
by awarding each of them a Front Sight Firearms Training
Institute "Legacy" Lifetime Membership so they may receive
world-class self defense firearms training and forever have
the education and ability to protect themselves, their
loved ones and their peers.
A Front Sight Firearms Training Institute "Legacy" Lifetime
Membership is valued at $8,900 and will be awarded to each
student Professor Librescu saved in his classroom by
willingly giving his life for theirs.
The benefits of the Legacy Membership
(http://www.frontsight.com/legacy-membership.asp)
include a lifetime of training in Empty Hand Defense,
Edged Weapons, and Front Sight's most popular Defensive
Handgun, Tactical Shotgun, and Practical Rifle courses.
Each Legacy Membership also includes four certificates that
members can provide to family and friends to attend their
first course at Front Sight.
When asked why Front Sight is willing to provide tens of
thousands of dollars in free lifetime training memberships
to Professor Librescu's students, Dr. Piazza responded,
"Professor Librescu's actions under fire are inspiring. He
gave his life to save his students. I want the Librescu
family to know that such valor does not go unrecognized or
unrewarded. Front Sight will now look after Professor
Librescu's students by providing them with a lifetime of
training that far exceeds law enforcement and military
standards without any bootcamp mentality or drill
instructor attitudes. With Front Sight's training,
Professor Librescu may rest in peace, knowing his
students will have the mindset and ability to protect
themselves, their loved ones, and their peers for the rest
of their lives. They will never have to run in fear again.
His legacy as a professor and protector will live on with
each of his students."
Those students who were saved by Professor Librescu's
heroism and would like to accept a Front Sight Firearms

Holocaust survivor burned into his character the importance
of standing tall against aggression and hate, his students
will forever carry the understanding that such irrational
violence can happen at any time and any place. Front
Sight's training will give them the ability to stop such
madness at a moment's notice."

Action needed on Anti 2nd Amendment law -
Your Gun Rights Could Soon Hang In The Balance
-- VA Tech shootings now spurring the most far-reaching gun control
in a decade
Gun Owners of America E-Mail Alert
8001 Forbes Place, Suite 102, Springfield, VA 22151
Phone: 703-321-8585 / FAX: 703-321-8408
http://www.gunowners.org/ordergoamem.htm
ACTION: Now that Congress is moving to restrict YOUR rights in
response to the VA Tech shootings, please make sure to take the
following three actions after you read this alert:
1. Urge your Representative to OPPOSE HR 297, the Dingell-McCarthy
legislation that is designed to take the Brady Law to new heights,
turning it into a law on steroids which could one day keep even YOU
from buying a gun. (Contact information and a draft letter to your
Representative are provided below.)
2. Gin up the e-mail alert systems in your state and forward this
e-mail to as many gun owners as you can.
3. Please stand with Gun Owners of America -- at
http://www.gunowners.org/ordergoamem.htm -- and help us to continue
this fight, as right now, we are combating this latest onslaught
ALONE in our nation's capital. GOA spokesmen spent all of last week
doing radio and TV debates, interviews for newswires, and opinion
editorials for newspapers. This week, we begin the battle in
Congress to defeat legislation that could block millions of
additional, honest gun owners from buying firearms.
Monday, April 23, 2007
The biggest gun battle of the year is about to erupt on Capitol Hill.
Fueled by the recent Virginia Tech shootings, an odd coalition is
forming to help expand the number of honest people who now won't be
able to buy a gun.
The legislation has been introduced by none other than the Queen of
Gun Control herself, Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY). But she has
picked up a key ally, as the bill (HR 297) is being pushed by a
powerful gun group in Washington, DC.
On Friday, The Washington Post reported on the strange coalition.
"With the Virginia Tech shootings resurrecting calls for tighter gun
controls," the Post said, "the National Rifle Association has begun
negotiations with senior Democrats over legislation to bolster the
national background-check system."
Rep. John Dingell (D-MI), who was once on the NRA Board of Directors
but resigned when he supported and voted for the Clinton semi-auto
ban in 1994, is reported to be "leading talks with the powerful gun
lobby in hopes of producing a deal [soon]," Democratic aides and
lawmakers told the newspaper.
Rep. McCarthy admitted to the Post that her "crusades" for more gun
control have made her voice "toxic" in gun circles. "So
Dingell is
handling negotiations with the NRA," the newspaper reported.
"Dingell is also in talks with Sens. Orrin G. Hatch (R-Utah) and Ted
Stevens (R-Alaska), House Minority Leader John A. Boehner (R-Ohio)
and Rep. F. James Sensenbrenner (Wis.), the senior Republican on the
House Judiciary Committee."
Despite all this bad news, the Post article does go on to explain
that there are some potential pitfalls.
First, you will remember that this is the bill you helped kill last
year, when an avalanche of postcards was dumped on Congressional
desks by thousands upon thousands of GOA activists. That's why the
Post says there is one huge obstacle -- the members of Gun Owners of
America.
"The NRA must balance its desire to respond to the worst mass
shooting by a lone gunman in the nation's history with its
competition with the more strident Gun Owners of America, which
opposes any restriction on gun purchases," the Post reported.
SO WHAT DOES HR 297 DO?
Well, the rest of this alert will answer this question. This alert
is long, but it is important to read it in its entirety. We need to
"arm" ourselves with the facts so that we can keep pro-gun
Congressmen from being duped into supporting a bill that, as of now,
is being unanimously cosponsored by representatives sporting an
"F-"
rating by GOA.
HR 297 provides, in the form of grants, about $1 billion to the
states to send more names to the FBI for inclusion in the National
Instant Criminal Background Check System [NICS]. If you are
thinking, "Oh, I've never committed a felony, so this bill won't
affect me," then you had better think again. If this bill becomes
law, you and your adult children will come closer to losing your gun
rights than ever before.
Are you, or is anyone in your family, a veteran who has suffered from
Post Traumatic Stress? If so, then you (and they) can probably kiss
your gun rights goodbye. In 1999, the Department of Veterans
Administration turned over 90,000 names of veterans to the FBI for
inclusion into the NICS background check system. These military
veterans -- who are some of the most honorable citizens in our
society -- can no longer buy a gun. Why? What was their heinous
"crime"?
Their "crime" was suffering from stress-related symptoms that often
follow our decent men and women who have served their country
overseas and fought the enemy in close combat. For all their
patriotism, the Clinton administration deemed them as mentally
"incompetent," sent their names for inclusion in the NICS
system, and
they are now prohibited from owning guns under 18 U.S.C. 922(g)(4).
HR 297 would make sure that more of these names are included in the
NICS system.
But, of course, Representatives Dingell and McCarthy tell us that we
need HR 297 to stop future Seung-Hui Chos from getting a gun and to
prevent our nation from seeing another shooting like we had on
Virginia Tech. Oh really?
Then why, after passing all of their gun control, do countries like
Canada and Germany still have school shootings? Even the infamous
schoolyard massacre which occurred in Ireland in 1997 took place in a
country that, at that time, had far more stringent gun controls than
we do.
Where has gun control made people safer? Certainly not in
Washington, DC, nor in Great Britain, nor in any other place that has
enacted a draconian gun ban.
IMPORTANT TALKING POINTS FOR CAPITOL HILL
Regarding Cho's evil actions last Monday at Virginia Tech, your
Representative needs to understand three things:
1. If a criminal is a danger to himself and society, then he should
not be on the street. If he is, then there's no law (or background
check for that matter) that will stop him from getting a gun and
acting out the evil that is in his heart. (Remember that Washington,
DC and England have not stopped bad guys from getting guns!) So why
wasn't Cho in the criminal justice system? Why was he allowed to
intermix with other college students? The justice system frequently
passes off thugs to psychologists who then let them slip through
their fingers and back into society -- where they are free to rape,
rob and murder.
2. Background checks DO NOT ULTIMATELY STOP criminals and mental
wackos from getting guns. This means that people who are initially
denied firearms at a gun store can still buy one illegally and commit
murder if they are so inclined -- such as Benjamin Smith did in 1999
(when he left the gun store where he was denied a firearm, bought
guns on the street, and then committed his racist rampage less than a
week later).
NOTE: In the first five years that the Brady Law was in existence,
there were reportedly only three illegal gun buyers who were sent to
jail. That is why in 1997, a training manual produced by Handgun
Control, Inc., guided its activists in how to answer a question
regarding the low number of convictions under the Brady Law. The
manual basically says, when you are asked why so few people are being
sent to jail under Brady, just ignore the question and go on the
attack. [See http://www.gunowners.org/fs0404.htm -- GOF's Gun Control
Fact Sheet.]
3. Background checks threaten to prevent INNOCENT Americans like you
from exercising your right to own a gun for self-defense. No doubt
you are familiar with the countless number of times that the NICS
system has erroneously blocked honest Americans from buying a gun, or
have heard about the times that the NICS computer system has crashed
for days at a time, thus preventing all sales nationwide -- and
effectively shutting down every weekend gun show.
Perhaps the most pernicious way of denying the rights of law-abiding
gun owners is to continuously add more and more gun owners' names
onto the roles of prohibited persons. Clinton did this with many
military veterans in 1999. And Congress did this in 1996, when Sen.
Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) successfully pushed a gun ban for people who
have committed very minor offenses that include pushing, shoving or
merely yelling at a family member. Because of the Lautenberg gun
ban, millions of otherwise law-abiding Americans can never again own
guns for self-defense. HR 297 will make it easier for the FBI to
find out who these people are and to deny firearms to them.
GOA has documented other problems with this bill in the past. In our
January alert on HR 297 we pointed out how this bill will easily lend
itself to bureaucratic "fishing expeditions" into your private
records, including your financial, employment, and hospital records.
HR 297 takes us the wrong direction. The anti-gun Rep. Dingell is
trying to sell the bill to the gun owning public as an improvement in
the Brady Law. But don't be fooled! The best improvement would be
to repeal the law and end the "gun free zones" that keep everyone
defenseless and disarmed -- except for the bad guys.

----- PRE-WRITTEN LETTER -----
Dear Representative:
I am a Second Amendment supporter who strongly opposes HR 297 -- the
NICS Improvement Act of 2007 -- and I strongly agree with Gun Owners
of America that this bill should be defeated.
The minor improvements this bill makes to the Brady instant check are
insignificant when compared to the outrageous invasions of our
privacy it would permit.
Gun Owners of America has posted an analysis of HR 297 at
http://www.gunowners.org/110anatb.htm on its website, showing how the
bill will target millions of law-abiding gun owners, including
thousands of combat veterans who served our country bravely.
Supporters of this bill say we need it to stop future Seung-Hui Chos
from getting a gun and to prevent our nation from seeing another
shooting like the one at Virginia Tech. But honestly, what gun law
has stopped bad guys from getting a gun? Not in Canada, where they
recently had a school shooting. Certainly not in Washington, DC or
in England!
I think we've got to stop treating criminals like medical patients,
thus allowing them to slip through the cracks. If we are not going
to incarcerate dangerous people, then all the gun laws in the world
will never stop them from getting firearms.
Don't be misled into thinking that this is a bill that gun owners
endorse. Most gun owners want Brady repealed, not "fixed." The law
has done nothing to prevent criminals from obtaining guns, but it has
violated the Second Amendment rights of millions of law-abiding
Americans.
Sincerely,

Action needed on Anti 2nd Amendment law -
Your Gun Rights Could Soon Hang In The Balance
-- VA Tech shootings now spurring the most far-reaching gun control
in a decade
Gun Owners of America E-Mail Alert

Illegal guns flourish, say befuddled police -Japan
Two fatal street shootings by gangsters within a week--one in Nagasaki and the other in the Tokyo area--have shattered the illusion that Japan is a country largely free of gun-related crime.
One estimate says there are 50,000 illegal guns in Japan.
The problem, police say, is that it is getting harder to know where to find the weapons.
Almost all are believed to be in the possession of crime syndicates, which have smuggled them from abroad in violation of the gun-control law.

Newsom pledges to make SF a sanctuary for illegal immigrants
Mayor Gavin Newsom vowed Sunday to maintain San Francisco as a sanctuary for immigrants and do everything he can to discourage federal authorities from conducting immigration raids.
The mayor cannot stop federal authorities from making arrests, Newsom told about 300 mostly Latino members of St. Peter's Church and other religious groups supporting immigrants. But no San Francisco employee will help with immigration enforcement.
"I will not allow any of my department heads or anyone associated with this city to cooperate in any way shape or form with these raids," Newsom declared. "We are a sanctuary city, make no mistake about it."
The Board of Supervisors first declared San Francisco a "sanctuary city" in 1989. The designation, which many U.S. cities across the country took on during the 1980s, has no legal meaning.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials have since May 2006 conducted raids across the country, including arrests in San Rafael, Oakland, Richmond, San Pablo, Santa Clara and other cities across the Bay area. Immigration officials have said they were executing arrest warrants for immigrants who had committed crimes or were in the country illegally and had ignored final deportation orders.
...
Comment: Would Newsom take the same stand on IRS enforcmentof levies? Would he take the same stand as to enforcement of unconstitutional gun laws? No. But illegals, who have no right to even be here, and who are violating our laws get, sanctuary.

DUI illegal arrested, convicted 9 times since 2003
When Isidro Pena Soto's SUV slammed into an oncoming pickup truck, after passing another car at 90 miles-per-hour, the illegal alien who had been arrested or convicted at least nine times since 2003 made Kent Boone the fifth fatality in two weeks along a dangerous stretch of Northern California highway.
The notorious two-lane roadway, known as "blood alley," runs through Napa, Solano, Sacramento and San Joaquin counties. It averaged more than 10 deaths a year during the five-year period ending in 2005.
Pena, 26, was driving without a license while under the influence of drugs and alcohol. California Highway Patrol officers found two pounds of methamphetamine in his vehicle and more at his home. It was not his first brush with U.S. law, and that's what Boone's survivors find so hard to understand.
"He needs to be in prison, there's no way they're going to be able to deport him and keep him out of our country," Boone's widow, Regina Sorisio, told the Oroville Mercury Register.

Comment: As to why these illegal SOB's are allowed to be here - our politicians are traitors to their Oath of Office. They are selling out America, and our way of life.
Students Recount Desperate Minutes Inside Norris Hall
By SERGE F. KOVALESKI and KATIE ZEZIMA
BLACKSBURG, Va., April 21 — The Elementary German class was under way in Room 207, reviewing German translations of computer parlance. A young man peeked in, saying nothing, and withdrew. Students who noticed him thought that either he was searching for someone or trying to locate his class. He did the same thing across the hall in Room 206, and again in Room 204.
Later, some of the students would conclude that he was not actually looking for anyone but was gauging mass — calculating a plan for the limited time he was likely to have, so that he could achieve the greatest carnage.
During the brutal interlude that Seung-Hui Cho spent last Monday on the second floor of Norris Hall, the engineering building at Virginia Tech, he would slaughter 30 people in a matter of minutes, in a furious fusillade of gunfire. From interviews with eyewitnesses who survived the attack, these are accounts of what happened.
•
Sometime just past 9:30 a.m., Mr. Cho reentered Room 206, Advanced Hydrology, a graduate level class taught by Prof. G. V. Loganathan. He shot the teacher and then turned and fired at everyone else in the class.
Guillermo Colman, 38, dove to the floor and huddled against the radiator; another student fell on top of him. At first, he thought this might be a stunt of some sort, something with ketchup substituted for blood, until a bullet hit behind his left ear.
The gunman left, and the students who were still conscious heard gunfire in nearby classrooms. It was not long before the killer returned and pumped more bullets into the students sprawled on the floor. Mr. Colman’s head was bleeding, and for that reason he might not have been shot again, and he lived.
•
In Room 204, the students in Solid Mechanics were learning about strain displacements when they heard what they took to be construction noise, what to them sounded like an enormous hammer pounding.
“It was like someone would hit a nail, pull back, hit a nail, pull back,” said Alec Calhoun, a junior in the class. “Then, after about three hits, we started hearing screams.”
Prof. Liviu Librescu, the teacher, said, “That’s not what I think it is, is it?”
The big hammer was a gun.
One student shouted, “That’s gunfire, I’m getting out of here.” He grabbed his belongings and dashed into the hallway, trailed by one other student. But the killer was in the hallway. The first student was shot twice, but managed with assistance from his classmate to hobble downstairs. They tried the doors, but they had been chained shut and they could not get them open, so they ducked into a ground-floor classroom to hide.
Professor Librescu said, “Someone call 911.”
From the back of the room, Mr. Calhoun waved his cellphone in the air. He had already called.
Desks were hurriedly flipped on their sides as protective shields, and the students crouched behind them. Four students had skipped class, because they had a homework assignment for third period that they had not completed. Another happened to just then be in the bathroom down the hall, and a professor wounded in the hallway ran in and locked both of them inside.
Others, hearing the gunfire, had locked themselves in the lounge and the offices on the floor. The classrooms alone were without locks.
Fearing the door led to death and recognizing that it could not be locked, the Solid Mechanics students chose the windows and whatever fate they would bring. “It was the most helpless feeling I had known,” said Caroline Merrey, a senior. Soon after class was to end, she had a telephone interview scheduled for her first job as a graduate.
One of the students opened a window, leapt onto the windowsill and kicked out the screen. The teacher was yelling at the students to get out as quickly as possible. Students clambered through and began dropping the two stories toward grass that had been drenched by a Sunday rain. Ms. Merrey tossed her knapsack and windbreaker out the window and climbed onto the sill: “I hung from the window from my fingertips and I just closed my eyes and said to myself, ‘Here we go.’ ”
She landed next to a friend moaning that he had broken an ankle.
Nine or 10 jumped, and Mr. Calhoun said he was the last to go. As he stood on the sill, he wavered. He saw students ahead of him fall and get injured, screaming in pain. One would break a leg.
Jump? Don’t jump? A gunman controlled the hall. He spied a shrub and aimed for it. He successfully landed in it, bounced off and finished on his back on the grass. Picking himself up, he sped for the nearest building.
Matt Webster had not yet jumped. Professor Librescu, a Holocaust survivor who was 76, had his weight against the door, but the gunman bulled his way in and shot the professor and then fired at the remaining students.
“He walked over to everyone individually and stood over us and shot down on us,” Mr. Webster said. A bullet grazed Mr. Webster’s head and penetrated his bicep.
A woman near him was moaning from her wounds, and another student was hit in the leg.
Oddly, in all the mayhem, there were no screams. “There was no time for it,” Mr. Webster said. “It all happened so quickly.”
•
The gunfire had roused the attention of others on the floors above and below, and most of them sought refuge in their rooms. Kevin P. Granata, a professor with an office on the third floor, ventured downstairs to investigate. Mr. Cho killed him in the hallway.
Gene Cole, 52, a custodian, was talking to his supervisor on the first floor when a secretary came downstairs and alerted them to sounds of gunfire. Mr. Cole took the elevator to the second floor. He came upon a wounded woman on the floor, writhing in pain, unable to speak. Before he could get to her, the gunman charged out of a classroom, raised his gun and fired five shots at Mr. Cole. All missed.
“I felt the bullets whiz by my head,” he said.
He darted down the stairs, yelling at his boss to get out. Mr. Cole fled through the auditorium exits. His supervisor, Mr. Cole said, hid in the bathroom.
•
The Issues in Scientific Computing class in Room 205 had heard the gunfire. Zachary Petkewicz had shoved a table against the door and held it shut. Mr. Cho managed to get the door open six inches, but no further. He fired two shots into the door, splintering wood but hitting no one, and emptying his clip. One bullet struck the podium, and the other hit a window. The students could hear him reloading as he retreated.
In Elementary German, Room 207, students had heard noise outside, but dismissed it as construction racket. The door was closed. Mr. Cho opened it, and before it hit the doorstop, he was firing.
“There was emptiness in his eyes,” said Derek O’Dell, a sophomore. “He was like a stone.”
He shot Christopher J. Bishop, the teacher, then turned on the class. Students dropped to the floor, jostling for cover. The gunfire continued — 10, 20, maybe 30 shots. The volley covered little more than a minute, but it felt like much longer.
Mr. O’Dell was hit in the right arm. “I was under my desk,” he said. “Then I started belly crawling military-style to the back of the room, while he was firing, and hid under another desk.”
Kevin Sterne, 21, a senior, was shot twice in the thigh, his femur artery ruptured. Drawing on his knowledge as an Eagle Scout, he snatched an electrical cord and wrapped it fast around his leg, stanching the bleeding and saving his life.
Five were dead and most of the others wounded. The four or five who had not been hit lay still on the floor, feigning death to live. There was no hope of escaping through windows here, not on this side of the hallway. Only the bottoms of the windows opened, with a crank, and the opening was too slim. There was no lawn below, just concrete. One student cranked open a window and began screaming for help.
The survivors heard gunfire ringing in another classroom. Trey Perkins feared the killer would return and finish them off: “I told people that were still up and conscious, ‘Just be quiet because we don’t want him to think there are people in here because he’ll come back in.’ ”
Using his belt as a tourniquet, Mr. O’Dell stopped the bleeding in his arm and then leap-frogged across a half-dozen desks to the front of the room. He slammed the door shut and barricaded it with his foot, leaning against the blackboard to avoid shots coming through the door. Two classmates propped their feet against the door. The others tried shoving the podium over, but it was bolted to the floor.
Sure enough, the gunman returned. He got the door open an inch, before the students shut it again. He squeezed off half a dozen shots into the door, and left.
Hearing the disturbances, Clay Violand, a junior in the Intermediate French class in Room 211 told Jocelyne Couture-Nowak, the professor, to push a desk against the door. She glanced out in the hallway first, and pulled her head back with a look of frozen terror. She told her students to call 911 and get down. She shoved a desk against the door, but the barricade did not hold.
“I saw a gun emerge into view,” Mr. Violand said. “Following the gun was a man.”
He ducked under his desk.
The professor and nine students were killed.
“Shot after shot went off and I never felt anything,” Mr. Violand said. “I played dead and tried to look as lifeless as possible.”
He whispered to a classmate, “If he thinks you’re dead, then he won’t kill you.”
And he prayed: “I prayed that an invisible blanket of protection be placed around me.”
Colin Goddard had called 911 and then dropped the phone, the line still open to the dispatcher. A bullet hit him in the left leg, breaking his femur. He, too, lay motionless, and the gunman left.
Moments later, he was back. Lying still on the floor, Mr. Goddard saw shoes approach, heard additional shots fired, then the shoes stopped next to him. He felt two more bullets rip into him, in the shoulder and buttocks. He was still conscious, and he would live. So would Mr. Violand. The shoes moved away, headed toward the front of the room. Somewhere nearby, one more shot rang out.
The police had burst through. Mr. Cho had turned his gun on himself.
Alicia C. Shepard contributed reporting.
Comment: 911 - dial for the body bags. If only one victim had been armed and trained as to his / her individual right to keep and bear arms, the killer could have been stopped. One well aimed shot could have saved 32. Why is it that so many prefer Americans treated like sheep? Why is it that we allow our politicians to destroy our American Bill of Rights?
Death toll limited before campus gun ban
A deeply troubled and disgruntled foreign student runs afoul of college authorities.
He comes to the Virginia campus armed and starts shooting in one building. ...
But, unlike the massacre at Virginia Tech last week, the damage was contained in this incident that occurred five years ago, before the state legislature banned guns on college campuses.
As soon as the gunfire erupted, two students acting independently of one another, Tracy Bridges and Mikael Gross, ran to their vehicles to retrieve firearms. Gross, an off-duty police officer in his home state of North Carolina, got his 9mm pistol and body armor. Bridges got out his .357 Magnum.
Bridges and Gross went back to the building where the shots were heard and as Odighizuwa exited, they approached from different angles. Bridges yelled for him to drop his weapon and the shooter was subdued by several unarmed students.
Gross went back to his car and got handcuffs to detain the shooter until police arrived.
Most news reports of the incident failed to mention the presence of two armed students and their role in subduing the shooter, saying only that he was tackled by bystanders.
Odighizuwa was tried for the murders and sentenced to multiple life terms in prison.
Virginia Tech, like many of the nation's schools and college campuses, is a so-called "gun-free zone," which Second Amendment supporters say invites gun violence – especially from disturbed individuals seeking to kill as many victims as possible.
Foreign-born student Cho Seung-Hui murdered 32 and wounded another 15 before turning his gun on himself.
A year earlier, the Virginia legislature banned all guns on campus in the interest of safety.
Ex-Miss America shoots thief's tires
Tough isn't a word necessarily associated with Miss America, but three thieves arrested after their truck tires were shot out by 82-year-old Venus Ramey might beg to differ.
Ramey, who won the elite beauty crown in 1944, confronted one of the three robbers on her farm in Waynesburg, Ky., about 140 miles south of Cincinnati, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported.
"He was probably wetting his pants," said Ramey, who balanced on her walking stick as she pulled out a snub-nosed .38-caliber handgun.
...She didn't think twice about shooting.
"I just went and did it. If they'd even dared come close to me, they'd be 6 feet under by now," she said.
...
Comment: If this young lady had been at Virginia Tech, that murderous Scum bag would be "6 feet under" and there wouldn't be victims of what is now known as the Virginia Tech massacre.
Factory Jobs: 3 Million Lost Since 2000
WASHINGTON (AP) - Three weeks ago, Dawn Zimmer became a statistic. Laid off from her job assembling trucks at Freightliner's plant in Portland, Ore., she and 800 of her colleagues joined a long line of U.S. manufacturing workers who have lost jobs in recent years. A total of 3.2 million—one in six factory jobs—have disappeared since the start of 2000.
Many people believe those jobs will never come back.
"They are building a multimillion-dollar plant in Mexico and they are going to build the Freightliners down there. They came in and videotaped us at work so they could train the Mexican workers," said Zimmer, 55, who had worked at Freightliner since 1994.
That's the issue for American workers. Many of their jobs are moving overseas, to Mexico and China and elsewhere. ...
Comment: It is pretty clear who "our" elected representatives are actually representing. Americans - we have taxation, but without representation. The New World Order? President G. Bush of Mexico is proud.

Patriots, Politicians and Guns
"Any politician who won't trust you with the weapon of your choice clearly cannot be trusted with the power he desires over your life."- Alexander Hope in the novel Hope
Today is April 19, also known as Patriots' Day in New England. On this day in 1775, the "shot heard 'round the world" took place at Lexington, as colonists defended their firearms from British confiscation. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/amex/patriotsday/timeline/index.html
Nearly two centuries later on this date, Nazi troops entered the Warsaw Ghetto to anniliate the Jews interred there. This spurred an uprising by the armed Jews that held off the German army for nearly a month. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warsaw_Ghetto_Uprising (you can read about the uprising in the words of SS Brigadefuhrer Jurgen Stroop -- who commanded the Nazi operation -- at www.jpfo.org/stroop.htm) .
Today is quietly dramatic in its own way. KnoxNews reports that the Tennesse legislature voted to repeal a state law that forbids the carrying of handguns on government property ( http://www.knoxnews.com/kns/state/article/0,1406,KNS_348_5491437,00.html ). Tennessee "gets" the Second Amendment. It's about the right to protect yourself without restriction.
And any politician who doesn't understand that simply can't be trusted.

Aftermath Of Tragedy: GOA Defending Freedom
Tuesday, April 17, 2007
Our hearts and prayers truly go out to all of those affected by Cho Seung-Hui's evil actions. But not even senseless, brutal murder justifies taking away the God-given rights of the law-abiding.
It is also worthwhile to note that Virginia Tech is -- because of deliberate policies set by its administration -- a victim disarmament zone, where even those with a state-issued concealed carry permit are denied their right of self-defense.
In fact, pro-gun forces just last year tried to get the Virginia legislature to address the problem. The bill to allow permit holders to carry on state-supported college campuses died, due in no small part to rabid opposition from Virginia Tech itself.
VT spokesman Larry Hincker put it this way after it became obvious that the bill would not pass: "I'm sure the university community is appreciative of the General Assembly's actions because this will help parents, students, faculty and visitors feel safe on our campus."
The unfortunate irony continues when one recalls that not long ago, two students at nearby Appalachian School of Law managed to stop a gunman at that institution. Happily, they were able to dash off-campus to retrieve their guns from their vehicles.
Four GOA spokesmen (one based in downtown D.C. and three at our Springfield, VA office just outside the Beltway) are working non-stop -- doing literally interview after interview -- making certain that the above points reach the public.
GOA has appeared on Fox News, ABC, CNN, BBC -- lots of alphabet soup networks -- as well as countless talk shows like Michael Reagan and Lars Larson. GOA spokesmen have been heard in every major radio market around the country and have done interviews with large print media outlets, such as the Associated Press and U.S. News & World Report.
The overall message that GOA is delivering is that gun prohibitions are part of the problem, not the solution.
We can expect some forms of new gun control to be pushed in the U.S. Congress. The Democrats control Congress, but more importantly, anti-gun politicians control the Democrat party. If House Speaker Nancy Pelosi -- certainly no friend of gun owners -- gives free rein to virulently anti-gun House Judiciary Chairman John Conyers (D-MI), literally anything can make it to the floor of the full House.
Conyers' counterpart in the Senate is Judiciary Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-VT), whose GOA rating of "F" is well-deserved. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada has also earned an F. Gun owners will have to be especially vigilant in the coming weeks to block any new attempts to infringe upon the Second Amendment.
And whereas the predictable media stampede to give voice to the possibility of such new gun control is certainly there, it does not seem to have the same "this simply must happen now" tone that it did after the Columbine tragedy in 1999. Indeed, the idea of firearms for self-defense in schools is gaining serious traction. Which should not be all that surprising, given a Research 2000 poll which showed that 85% of Americans find it appropriate for a principal or teacher to use "a gun at school to defend the lives of students" in stopping a massacre.
ACTION: For now, stay tuned for future alerts. (If any anti-gun bills start moving on Capitol Hill, GOA will be counting on you to contact your legislators in record numbers.) And pray for all of those whose loved ones were injured or killed at Virginia Tech.
Don't Give an Inch!
Don't Give an Inch!
We've all heard about yesterday's tragic mass shooting on the Virginia Tech Campus that left 33 dead, including the gunman. Our deepest condolences go out to the families of those victims.
As can be expected, gun-prohibitionists are crawling out of the woodwork to lay the blame squarely on the availability of firearms. But how can they?
Virginia law states that holders of concealed carry permits are allowed to carry on university campuses ( http://www.roanoke.com/editorials/commentary/wb/80510 ). In the name of "safety", certain persons lobbied successfully to prevent the carrying of firearms on Virginia Tech's campus. Yesterday's massacre was the direct result of that lobbying.
Did the rules forbidding the carrying of firearms prevent Seung Hui Cho's senseless slaughter? Obviously not. In fact, the rules _encouraged_ his rampage because law-abiding citizens were unable to prevent Cho from completing his butchery.
The blood of those 32 innocents is on the hands of those who lobbied for victim disarmament, and on the hands of the president of the university who acquiesed to their short-sighted demands. Their hoplophobia did nothing but ensure that larger numbers of individuals died at the hands of a psychotic.
Speaking of hoplophobia -- we watched with interest the reporting of Nightline's Terry Moran on the slaying during Monday night's special Nightline edition . He showed classic signs of the mental health issues outlined in Dr. Sarah Thompson's classic article, "Raging Against Self-Defense: A Psychiatrist Examines the Anti-Gun Mentality" ( http://www.jpfo.org/ragingagainstselfdefense.htm ).
Despite logic and reason, other gun-prohibitionists will no doubt callously use this incident to push their "gun control" schemes, either out of irrational fear, or a desire for control. We must stand fast and refuse to give in to their emotional rhetoric. "Gun control" would not have prevented this terrible tragedy -- "gun control" _caused_ this tragedy.
_Evil people find a way to kill_. It's that simple.
For perspective, this degree of suicide-killing (or mass-killing via car-bombs) happens about *three times a week in Iraq.* Terror bombers kill in a big way in an attempt to drive policy decisions. Even the U.S. military cannot stop all the bombings in Iraq -- the people who perform them are intent on making their statements via mass murder. Likewise, the U.S. gov't won't be able to stop all of the suicide killings here.
Just as we don't accept the terrorists' killings as policy arguments, we should not let domestic terrorism events like this shooting be treated as policy arguments.
The questions are: what can be done to detect the potential perpetrators? what can be done defensively so that perpetrators cannot do as much damage? VA Tech's response was lousy: they did not take the kind of action needed to respond to a multiple murder on campus when the suspect is on the loose. Likewise, they had assured a defense-free environment, so that the killer could not be stopped by equal force.
VA Tech's ill-considered policies and responses do not create reasons to disarm non-violent people as a national policy -- yet that will be called for.
Now would be a good time to visit our store and pick up one of our "All in Favor of Gun Control, Raise Your Right Hand" posters or t-shirts ( http://shop.jpfo.org/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=78 ). Don't let the hoplophobes use this incident as fodder for your disarmament.

University convocation told of Allah, not Jesus
Speakers at the Virginia Tech convocation yesterday called on Allah and Buddha in their efforts to minister to the survivors, family and friends of victims of the shooting massacre at the school – but Jesus wasn't mentioned by name.
President Bush did offer a biblical message of hope, when he suggested the school community that lost 32 members to the shootings by an out-of-control resident alien student find "comfort in the grace and guidance of a loving God."
But even he didn't bring Jesus, the only hope of comfort and future life for Christians, into the memorials.
"I'm sitting here watching the convocation service at VT," wrote a WND reader who was given anonymity. "Five minutes ago they had four representatives from the local 'religious community.' The Muslim specifically invoked Allah's blessings… and he didn't shy away from saying the name of Allah. The Jewish rep asked for God's blessings. Buddha was represented. The only name that [was] omitted, of course, Jesus Christ."
Comment: This is not an Islamic based country.
Iraqi Christians forced to pay 'protection tax'
Christians in a Baghdad neighborhood are being required to pay a "protection tax" because Muslims have begun enforcing an Islamic law demanding either the tribute – or conversion to Islam, according to Christians in Iraq.
The report from the Assyrian International News Agency follows on complaints from Iraqi Christians that they have been caught in a no-man's land between the Coalition forces and Muslim militants in Iraq, watching as their churches have been bombed, and men and women assaulted and killed.
The newest report said Muslims in the Dora neighborhood are forcing Assyrians, who also are known as Chaldeans and Syriacs, but who largely are Christian, to pay the jizya, the poll tax demanded by the Quran. ...
Comment: Islam and world conquest. When will Americans wake up?
Virginia quashed bill allowing handguns on campuses
More than one year before today's unprecedented shooting rampage at Virginia Tech, the state's General Assembly quashed a bill that would have given college students and employees the right to carry handguns on campus.
At the time, Virginia Tech spokesman Larry Hincker said he was happy to hear of the bill's defeat, according to the Roanoke Times.
"I'm sure the university community is appreciative of the General Assembly's actions because this will help parents, students, faculty and visitors feel safe on our campus," the Virginia Tech spokesman said.
At least 32 people were killed today at Virginia Tech in the worst campus shooting in U.S. history.
...
Comment: The shooter obviously violated "the law". Those who prevented self defense are as guilty as the murderer.
WHEN DO BAD POLICIES BECOME TREASONOUS?
...there is another area of malfeasance committed by G.W. Bush that is equal to anything Bill Clinton did: his determination to facilitate a Mexican invasion of the United States and the decision to merge America into a trilateral North American Community.
It is no hyperbole to say that Bush's infatuation with Mexican immigration and uniting the economy of the U.S. with those of Canada and Mexico threatens the sovereignty and independence of our country, not to mention our national security.
One former military analyst is quoted as saying, "We are under attack. Twenty million have already entered the country, and more are to come. And sadly, many of our leaders are siding with the invaders. They are willing to spend billions of dollars to deport foreigners from Iraq and defend Iraq's borders, but won't lift a finger to save the USA."
William Calhoun wrote, "We know that Hispanics in the Mexican military are helping Arab terrorists sneak into the United States. We know that many Mexican gangs have already made alliances with terrorist cells in India."
...
Comment: The invading forces are here. They will continue hatching out more little invaders. As their populations increase, the Feds require that our ballots be in their foreign languages. America is at war. We sleep while our country is destroyed. Mexican President George Bush reigns.
Angry truckers to encircle D.C. with 'blockade'
American truckers plan to circle the White House and state capitals in a "rolling blockade" to protest a federal government plan to allow Mexican long-haul rigs to operate throughout the U.S.
Drivers who participate in "Truck-Out" also are being asked to run their rigs at the minimum speed permitted by law.
The protest is scheduled for April 23-25 to coordinate with the "Hold Their Feet to the Fire" rally and radio talk show marathon in Washington planned by the Federation for American Immigration Reform.
"American truckers are going to have their jobs undercut or vanish into the hands of Mexican truck drivers as this Department of Transportation pilot project gains permanency," said Frosty Wooldridge, a writer and talk-show host who drove 18-wheelers for two decades. ..

Durham Prosecutor Nifong Apologizes to Duke Lacrosse Players Cleared of Rape Charges
DURHAM, N.C. — The local prosecutor who charged three Duke lacrosse players with raping a stripper apologized to the athletes Thursday and said the North Carolina attorney general's decision to drop the case was right.
"To the extent that I made judgments that ultimately proved to be incorrect, I apologize to the three students that were wrongly accused," Durham County District Attorney Mike Nifong said....
Comment: Think about it, any American could be prosecuted by a scum bag prosecutor like this. Example of out of control government officials. He is sorry? Get real. He is just trying to cover his ass. He should be prosecuted, and sentenced to jail in Mexico. He has destroyed lives.

Red's Under Fire: WarOnGuns Interviews Ryan Horsley
WarOnGuns has been reporting on the ongoing BATFE actions against Red's Trading Post in Twin Falls, ID, since we became aware of this story. I contacted Red's Marketing Director Ryan Horsley and he agreed to answer some questions about his plight, and also provided me with this brief bio to introduce himself to us:
Ryan Horsley is the fourth generation at Red's Trading Post "Idaho's Oldest Gun Shop" which was started in 1936 by his Great Grandfather. Horsley serves as Chairman of the Twin Falls Planning and Zoning Commission, President of the Twin Falls Downtown Business District, Board of Directors for the Twin Falls Chamber of Commerce, Public Relations Chairman for Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve and was appointed to the Selective Service Board by then Idaho Governor and Current Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne. He has brought Red's Trading Post from a local pawn shop to a thriving online specialty firearms store that has increased nearly 600% since Horsley's arrival. Ryan and his wife Miah have 3 small children.
-------------------------
DC: Tell me about Red's.
RH: Red's Trading Post was started by my Great Grandfather Lowell "Red" Kinney in 1936. We became at the time one of the biggest gun shops in Idaho for awhile. We are located in the heart of Twin Falls in a 95 year old building. In recent years the majority of our business is online. We specialize in consignments and specialty firearms.
DC: So what happened? And have you had you had these problems before?
RH: We were audited in 2000 and there were some minor errors found, that was when I just took over the role of manager. We were then audited again in 2001 and found in full compliance. In 2005 we were audited again and the agent found minor paperwork errors and other minor items. Yet we were told by the ATF Agent conducting the investigation that we were one of the "best small gun shops he had inspected". I was not worried because these were small items that could be rectified, most of the items that had been brought to our attention were items that other Agents never mentioned to us. He explained that each Agent looks for something different. The inspector went through about 10,000 forms, we have a success rate of 99.6%. Yet the ATF has to prove that these violations are WILLFUL, willful is a word that Reagan and Congress put in the wording to protect dealers but the ATF is now saying that if you were written up on violations in the past and then again...it is willful. I was stunned to say the least when we found that they were going to revoke our license.
DC: Aside from some paperwork glitches, what damage has been done?
RH: There were no missing gun, all of our sales were to legal buyers, there was nothing shady. The most severe violation that the ATF is touting is one in which a local retired Doctor came in to pick up a special order shotgun. My clerk called him in and had him fill out the paperwork. When my clerk turned around he grabbed the paperwork probably assuming that it was his. When it was discovered the ATF agent contacted his widow and verified that it was completed and that it was called in. Yet they have labeled this WILLFUL as well.
DC: What's the current status of your case? Does your lawyer think talking publicly about it could be used against you?
RH: We are currently in the process of seeking and injunction to allow us to acquire firearms. The ATF pulled a different tactic on us and said that through the Federal Court process we could no longer acquire any new firearms, we could only sell off our remaining inventory. I have kept quiet on several things which drives me nuts because I have always been open and upfront on everything. So that is why I try and focus on what is happening to our industry as a whole rather than our own personal case but that tends to turn into the focus sometime. People wonder who this can happen to an honest established dealer located in Idaho which is the most Republican state in the Union where our Senior Senator also sits on the Board of Directors for the NRA. Yet it proves if it can happen to us then it could happen to anyone.
DC: There are those in the gun community commenting on forums who aren't all that sympathetic to your plight-they basically say you had a job to do keeping complete records and your failure to do that brought your troubles on yourself. How do you respond to that?
RH: It is really easy to cast stones, I used to do it. I would hear of some dealer who had their license revoked and would assume that it was something really bad. I saw this happening to the individuals who had FFL's but really did not feel compelled to speak up. Just like the poem:
First they came for the Jews and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew. Then they came for the Communists and I did not speak out because I was not a Communist. Then they came for the trade unionists and I did not speak out because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me. Pastor Martin Niemöller.
We need to stand up for each other, we cannot allow them to tear us apart. There are so many other dealers who are hiding their head because most times in the court of Public Opinion we are found guilty. We need to stand up for one another and come to each others aid and not just throw our fellow dealers to the wolves.
DC: You say the BATFE is shutting down gun dealers, and imply that is part of an agenda. What makes you think that?
RH: Shooting Sports Retailer Magazine just reported that from 2001 to 2006, revocations have gone up nearly 6 times. The VPC reported that "the Number of Gun Dealers in U.S. Drops Almost 80 Percent—From 245,628 to 54,902—Since 1994 till 2005". That is why Congress put together the ATF Reform Act of 2006 which received bipartisan support in the House, but was ultimately held up in the Senate by Dianne Feinstein. Gun Manufacturers, Distributors, the NRA and other organizations are aware of this. Dealers are either having to fight this in Federal Court or if they cannot afford it they just close shop. We are easy targets. The startling fact is that the ATF's funding is increasing, yet FFL dealers are rapidly declining.
DC: Tell us about your petition, and what you hope to accomplish with it. Are you satisfied with the response?
RH: The petition is twofold, it is to educate gun owners to what is happening and it is also to be sent out to Congress. I have had some organizations ask if they can use it as well. I feel the response is OK but could be much better, there are some excellent comments on it.
DC: We reported on the commercials you produced. Are they being shown anywhere besides the Internet? What difference do you expect them to make?
RH: They are on our web site www.redstradingpost.com and are available to anyone to download as well. Some supporters have posted them on YouTube. I think they are a great tool to get Gun Owners attention, I am hoping people will contact their Congressional Delegates and show support to reform the ATF. Gun Dealers are becoming an endangered species.
DC: Does anyone from BATFE seem inclined to give you a break, or does it look like they're intent on destroying Red's? And do you think going public like this will make them more or less inclined to show lenience?
RH: It is all coming from the top, they cannot let you win, they have an unlimited amount of resources and it is a costly fight. When it became clear that they were not going to let up that is when I had to make a decision to go public about this. Honestly what is the worst thing that they can do to me...revoke my license? I have been told by others who have won in court that to expect more attacks. So I have to press on because the only true victory is to reform the ATF or severely cut their budget.
DC: Who in the pro-gun community has stepped forward to help you, either through publicity, with legal aid, etc.?
RH: ATFABUSE.com has been great with being very vocal, hitting the gun forums. JPFO has been wonderful as well and has requested pictures of our store for their upcoming video "The Gang", the NRA posted an ILA report on their website. Several small grass roots organizations have been great but the larger organizations are silent. One which we are a member of has ignored us and will not answer our e-mails. I have had individuals and other dealers step forward to offer funds for our legal defense but I have declined. This issue is not about Red's Trading Post and I do not want people to think that I am doing this for my own personal gain or to receive money, sympathy or empathy. This campaign is for all dealers and for gun owners, to protect our industry.
DC: Have customers, suppliers, and those who know you in the business community come forth with testimonials? Would they be helpful? Are you soliciting them, or do you have plans to?
RH: I have not sought any testimonials but I have asked them to speak out. Where we are in Federal Court, our case is up to the Judge. So it would not do much good at this point. Speaking out for us is a moot point but you can speak out for other dealers and against these attacks.
DC: What is the best outcome you can hope for, and what do you think your chances are of achieving it?
RH: We are confident that we will win this case and recoup attorney fees. But the best outcome is for reform because they will be back if we win or will just set their sights on another dealer. Reform, Cutting their budget or join JPFO's campaign to "Boot the BATFE". We have to be responsible taxpayers as well. If we saw our local Police department spending the majority of their time issuing tickets for littering and jaywalking when there is real crime being committed then we would be outraged. Why are we not outraged when we see the ATF spending the majority of their time going after honest gun dealers for petty violations when there are real criminals out there?
DC: What would you ask of people reading this interview? What do you want them to do?
RH: Stand behind your dealers, Contact your Senators and Congressman, do not let this continue to happen. This is your chance to fight back. Politically we are moving in an uncertain future, we have the ability to turn the tide against what seems to be a barrage of attacks from the new assault weapons ban, Bloomberg straw purchase entrapments, ATF shutting down dealers and so many that are happening at statewide levels. Our guard is down right now and this industry is taking shots left and right. This takes individuals, this takes men and women we have reached a point where we cannot compromise. Get involved and stand up!

Help Keep Idaho's Oldest Gun Shop Alive!
Help Keep Idaho's Oldest Gun Shop Alive!
On March 21 of this year, we alerted our readers to the BATFE's campaign to run Red's Trading Post -- Idaho's oldest gun shop -- out of business. You can read about it at www.jpfo.org/alert20070321.htm .
But the folks at Red's aren't cowards -- they aren't going down without a fight. They've produced a series of video ads alerting the public to this travesty of justice under the color of law. The videos are being broadcast on television and are also available online at http://www.redstradingpost.com/atf_video.php .
Read our previous alert, watch the videos, and then spread them around to everyone you know. Help Red's in their fight against this outrageous abuse by a rogue government agency!
Remember, JPFO is producing a documentary film focused on abolishing the BATFE. Read more about it at http://www.thegangmovie.com .

Guest Editorial: You Can't Repeal the Law of Unintended Consequences
As I was placing pro-2nd Amendment literature on the seats before the event, a child psychiatrist (so identified by the name badge on his white coat) came up to me, looked at the leaflets and said, with a smile and with what he mistook to be bravery, "You know, I think ALL guns should be banned."
I smiled back and replied, "Really? Do you own a gun?"
He was taken aback. "Well, NO," he said, with all the fear and loathing of Dracula confronted by a Crucifix with wolf's bane garlands.
"Well, how do you propose to get mine then?"
He paused, then said, "Well, we'll pass a law and you'll have to turn them in to the government."
I laughed. "Wrong, sport. Let me tell you how that would work. If you want my gun, you're going to have to kill me to get it. Not only that, but you're going to have to kill my son, my brother and all our friends. And if even ten percent of American gunowners feel the way we do, you're going to have to kill upwards of eight and a half million people, and that doesn't count all the anti-freedom pukes like you that we'll kill in righteous self-defense before we meet our Maker, and we intend to make that MORE than a one to one ratio. So you've got to ask yourself, sport: Is it worth it?"...
Illegal detained in death of 'Christmas Story' director
An illegal alien suspected of causing a traffic accident and killing movie director Bob Clark, whose "A Christmas Story" has come alongside "It's a Wonderful Life" and "Miracle on 34th Street" as a perennial holiday must-watch, has been placed under an immigration hold by federal authorities.
The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency placed the hold on Hector Velazquez-Nava, 24, a Mexican national who was living in Los Angeles as an illegal immigrant, according to a report from Americans for Legal Immigration Political Action Committee.
...
Comment: The invasion continues and our government officials betray their oath of office. They betray American Citizens. Consider that while illegals live off of Americans, burden our prison system, bankrupt our hospitals, the IRS will seize the Wages of American Citizens who owe back taxes. Even if you have Cancer or have suffered a severe brain injury, the IRS tactics have become very alarming and oppressive. As to "hardship" - many IRS collection representatives presently don't care about whether you have food, clothing or a roof over your head. They ignore the legislative intent behind the Offer in Compromise program. Yet, the illegals are given a free ride. American Citizens are expected to pay to support those who seek the destruction of America. Yes, today, we again have taxation - without representation.
Attacking your Bill of Rights
Assault Weapons Ban and Law Enforcement Protection Act of 2007

Comment: the 2nd Amendment is not about hunting or sport. It is about enforcing the Bill of Rights when government officials become tyrants and oppressors. It is a last resort. When are gun owners going to stop vomiting forth the anti Bill of Rights slogans of hunting and sport? Face it, no one gives a damn about your "hunting rights". Wake up!
Playground dispute could bring death penalty
A childhood dispute over playing together could result in the death penalty for five Christians, after their Muslim neighbors made up accusations of blasphemy against them, according to a new report from Voice of the Martyrs.
The ministry organization that monitors persecution of Christians worldwide, and works on their behalf, said the newest case was just reported by organization sources in Pakistan.
In the city of Toba Tek Singh, five Christians – Rashid Masih, Salamat Masih, Sahba Masih Motta, Bao Masih and Sheela Masih – right now are living under the threat of physical attack from Muslim extremists, and in fact the stability of the relationship between Muslims and Christian in the entire region is endangered, the report said.
All because of a disagreement among children over playtime. ...
"The Muslim family told other Muslims at a religious gathering that Christians had disgraced the Holy Prophet, tore a holy sticker and beat it with a shoe. This has led to tension in the city," the Pakistani source, who was not identified by name, told VOM.
"Christians in the area fear Muslim extremists will attack the family. There is fear there will be (other) attacks this week during celebrations leading up to Easter Sunday," the source reported.
...Sharia law, Islamic religious law, was adopted in 1998, and that further limited the rights of Pakistani Christians.

Seattle's 'Sanctuary Law' Helped Kill Rebecca Griego, Says CCRKBA
BELLEVUE, Wash., April 5 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Had it not been for a Seattle ordinance that forbids police officers from routinely ascertaining a suspect's immigration status, Monday's murder-suicide at the University of Washington might have been prevented because the perpetrator would have been deported months ago, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.
Seattle newspapers reported Thursday morning that gunman Jonathan Rowan had been living in this country illegally for more than ten years. Stopped for drunken driving last June 30 by Seattle police, his
residency status could have been determined, were it not for Seattle's ridiculous policy. Generically called "Sanctuary Laws," they tie the hands of police and allow foreign nationals a free pass to stay here illegally.

A controversial Texas imam who at one point participated in a "tribute to the great Islamic visionary" Ayatollah Khomeini, has offered a prayer to open the state Senate that excluded both Christians and Jews.
"Oh, Allah, guide us to the straight path, the path of those whom you have favored, not of those who have earned your wrath or of those who have lost the way," prayed Imam Yusuf Kavakci of the Dallas Central Mosque.
Islam, of course, teaches that Jews and Christians both have earned the wrath of Allah by failing to follow Islam, and also have lost the way by following the teachings of the Torah for the Jews or the Bible for Christians.

Terrorists – coming to a school near you
Authorities fear the school massacre that shook Russia a few years ago may be a dress rehearsal for what al-Qaida plans to do in America – only on a grander scale, launching multiple school attacks simultaneously across the country.
In 2004, Chechen terrorists associated with al-Qaida seized a school building in Beslan, Russia, and slaughtered 338, including 172 children.
Three years later, schools and local police in this country are still unprepared to deal with such an assault, experts warn. Most don't have response plans for handling a single active shooter, let alone a cell of trained terrorists launching a large-scale attack.

"The enemy is infiltrating us at all levels, and certainly school bus drivers are one area to look at," warned retired Lt. Col. Dave Grossman, president of Killology Research Group, an anti-terror consultancy that trains the FBI and other law enforcement. "And how about high school, middle school and elementary school cafeteria workers? Janitors? Delivery people?"
Grossman says some school district security officials he works with have expressed concerns about some of the Muslim employees schools are hiring.
"But no one dares profile them," he told WND.
"Islamic terrorists are already in place in the U.S. and, yes, that includes bus drivers, cafeteria workers and also airport workers," added Grossman, a former Army Ranger and West Point professor.

What Can I Do?
Since our March 12 alert, "The Parker Decision: Celebrate, but with Grave Concerns" (www.jpfo.org/alert20070312.htm), we've gotten several letters from supporters asking, "What can we do?"
There's no easy answer.
Regarding the possibility of the Parker decision being overturned, there is very little the average citizen can do to influence it one way or another. One of the features of our court system is that it is largely impervious to public reaction in the short term. Theoretically, this is a good thing.
The legal system does, however, respond to society's views in the long term. For instance, one could argue that the Left has had a huge influence on the legal system by shifting opinions broadly in intellectual circles initially, and gradually at the grassroots level. A handful of decades ago, very few Americans liked the concept of communism or socialism. But over the years universities impressed students with the "advantages" and "fairness" of such systems, and eventually the whole country came to think that socialism is no big deal. End result? The US is steeped in socialist policies, with no turning back in sight.
It is JPFO's opinion that our movement's long term goal -- ending the farcical, suicidal policies of "gun control" -- can only be achieved by shifting people's opinions at both the intellectual and grass roots levels. We must wake up our countrymen to the dangerous position in which they naively place themselves -- the position of disarmed and helpless victims.
Scientists define the term "critical mass" as the scale or volume at which processes become self-perpetuating. Before critical mass is reached, a process must be continually fed in order to continue growing; it cannot sustain itself. But after critical mass is reached, the process takes on a life of its own and no longer requires assistance to continue and grow.
Too many of us have been taught all of our lives to rely on others -- particularly our government or "the authorities" -- to protect us from danger. Reversing a lifetime of conditioning is not easy task, but it MUST be accomplished if we wish to preserve our right to self-defense. When a critical mass of Americans truly understands that ultimately each of us is responsible for our own safety and welfare, then and only then will our government be forced to halt their attempts at disarming us.
What can you do? Educate.
JPFO's website contains hundreds of powerful, well-researched articles outlining the importance of the Second Amendment and the dangers of allowing yourself to be disarmed. If armed self-defense seems so insane to so many people -- and it does -- then we cannot expect a few letters or a demonstration to change the mind of the D.C. Circuit en banc about the Second Amendment. Only when enough Americans understand what is at stake do we have real hope of taking our country back.
Knowledge is power.

President Bush represents Mexicans, NOT a
3/14/2007
Yesterday while in Mexico, President Bush pledged to the Mexican
people that he will "work as hard as I possibly can" to pass an
amnesty bill. Here's what he said:
"My pledge to you and your government, but more
importantly to the people of Mexico, is I will work
as hard as I possibly can to pass comprehensive
immigration reform."
How dare the President make such a pledge to a foreign government!
But it gets worse. The President used the same speech to chide
you and me -- and rebuke us for not supporting his amnesty plan!
"In the debate on migration I remind my fellow citizens that
family values do not stop at the Rio Grande river."
(Full quote at the end of this message.)
+ + "Migration" debate?
That is not a misprint. The President has apparently so far
downgraded the current illegal alien invasion that he now calls
it a "debate on migration"! Migration? This was no slip of the
tongue. Both President Bush and Mexican President Calderon
used "migration" repeatedly and it certainly fits how the
President views the border crisis.
So our President goes to Mexico and pledges to do everything
he can to encourage the free "migration" of Mexicans to our
country! Even worse -- he wants to totally remove any stigma
of illegality and give tens of millions south of the border
free "migration" rights! And just for fun, he rebukes you
and me along the way!
+ + Can we stop the invasion?
While the President was doing this, Ron De Jong and I were on
Capitol Hill for important strategy meetings to stop the Bush-
Kennedy-Pelosi amnesty train. We also took part in the launch
of Grassfire’s mobile "Stop The Invasion" billboard right on
Capitol Hill.
Please go here for a full report and to see the new mobile
billboard as it circled the Capitol:

Everyone on Capitol Hill is bracing for the Kennedy amnesty bill
which we expect will be worse than last year’s. The good news is,
we came away from our meetings with a two-pronged approach to
defeating this bill -- one on the House side and the other on
the Senate side. We will be sharing details with you in a few
days.
But one thing was clear -- grassroots pressure is OUR ONLY HOPE!
That was the message we heard again and again. Sen. Coburn of
Oklahoma told us directly that the grassroots made all the
difference last year. A key House staffer said that grassroots
citizens are our only line of defense.
I want to keep this mobile billboard circling the Capitol and
the White House until we defeat amnesty. Quite frankly, it
could take months and I need your help.
Please go here to help us Stop the Invasion:

And please alert your friends to the President’s latest outrageous
statements. President Bush is selling out our country's
sovereignty and he’s rebuking us in the process!
Thanks for taking a stand to stop the invasion!

hardworking honorable citizens of Mexico who want to make

RADICAL Islamic literature, DVDs and websites are proliferating across Melbourne while authorities are seemingly helpless to stop the underground trade in hate talk.
In tucked away Melbourne bookshops and prayer rooms, as well as online, text and recordings commonly slur Jews and urge followers to Islamise the world.
The faithful are told to obey only Sharia law.
A Sunday Herald Sun audit of Islamic bookshops found dozens of books, pamphlets, DVDs and CDs with radical and sometimes violent messages.
One book, Man-Made Laws Vs. Shari'ah, urges Muslims not to "accept anything from their governments and rulers except sharia", stating any other system is heresy.
The book prescribes stoning for adultery and drinking alcohol and advocates flogging for casual sex.
The same text claims the Jews have always waged a war against Islam.
Another booklet, The Conditions of La Ilaha Illa Allah, states all children of Israel are going to hell.
"A painful torment is theirs because they used to tell lies," it states.
It describes a Muslim's aim as "to strive for a returning to the true Islamic way of life . . . and to bring about a society guided upon the Revelation and for the Laws of Allah to be applied upon the earth."

Students facing charges of 'desecration of Allah'
Hezbollah flag
College Republicans at San Francisco State University desecrated the name of Allah by stepping on makeshift Hezbollah and Hamas flags, charged school officials who brought the students before a hearing yesterday.
The trouble began at an Oct. 17 anti-terrorism rally in which the students stepped on butcher paper painted to resemble the flags of the Middle East terrorist organizations Hamas and Hezbollah. The College Republicans say they simply copied the script from an image on the Internet and didn't know it bore the name of Allah in Arabic script.
University spokeswoman Ellen Griffin, however, told San Francisco Chronicle columnist Debra J. Saunders the university "stands behind this process" of investigating the students for possible punishment.
...
Comment: If it was the American Flag, officials wouldn't be having any problem in allowing desecration. If it was a Christian symbol, again, there would be no problem. What about when the barbarians blow up Mosques? Why aren't they complaining? It appears that the real lesson is that we do not dare step on our enemies for fear of offending the bastar_ _.
Officers outgunned on U.S. border
Violence along the U.S.-Mexico border is undergoing what U.S. law-enforcement authorities call "an unprecedented surge," some of it fueled by weapons and ammunition purchased or stolen in the United States.
Federal, state and local law-enforcement officials from Texas to California, concerned about the impact of illegally imported weapons into Mexico, say they already are outmanned and outgunned by ruthless gangs that collect millions of dollars in profits by smuggling aliens and drugs into this country. ,,,

Court dumps D.C. gun ban
In a major decision addressing interpretation of the Second Amendment, a federal appeals court today overturned the District of Columbia's handgun ban, declaring the constitutional right to bear arms is not limited to militias as the city had argued.
The majority opinion in the 2-1 decision said activities protected by the Second Amendment "are not limited to militia service, nor is an individual's enjoyment of the right contingent upon his or her continued intermittent enrollment in the militia."
The judges also ruled unconstitutional the city's requirement that registered firearms be kept unloaded, disassembled and under trigger lock.

UN Ignores Own "Declaration of Human Rights"
UN Ignores Own "Declaration of Human Rights"
Supporters of globalization often point to the UN's "Universal Declaration of Human Rights" http://www.un.org/Overview/rights.html as being equivalent or even superior to the US Bill of Rights. Once again, we are being lied to.
One of our supporters recently sent us this chilling email. As you read it, ask yourself if such a thing could happen in a country with a Bill of Rights Culture.
(begin excerpt)
Today I was handing out JPFO anti-U.N. pamphlets in front of the United Nations visitor's entrance. I was behaving peacefully and orderly, and I thought that I might be protected by the United Nations' "Declaration on Human Rights" and the U.S. constitution, which are supposed to protect political speech and free expression.
The U.N. guards immediately started harassing me and trying to get me to leave, and claimed I had no right to hand out literature there. I explained to them that I had consulted with a lawyer, and all sidewalks in the city are city-owned, and I have a right to hand out literature there. A U.N. superior officer immediately went across the street and summoned a New York City police officer to order me to leave.
I explained to the NYPD officer that I had consulted a lawyer and I was breaking no laws by distributing literature here. The NYPD officer, Officer Rizzo of the 17th precinct, said he didn't care about the law or lawyers, and claimed the U.N. was a "National Security Area" and I was not allowed to hand out any literature here, and I had to go across the street; and he went on to say that I could only hand out literature in certain places across the street, and not others, including that I was not allowed to hand out literature in front of any consulates or embassies, including not in front of the U.S. Embassy.
When I tried to explain to him again that my lawyer had confirmed my project was legal, he again said laws and lawyers are meaningless, and he ordered me to leave and tried to intimidate me physically. I left and walked away, but then went back to ask him some questions for my incident report. Officer Rizzo started to threaten me and menace me, refused to answer any questions, and he and two other officers followed me up the street, threatening to arrest me and throw me in jail.
So I walked away, and came home, but I immediately filed an online complaint with the Complaint review Board, and I am planning to call up some TV stations to see if they'll do a report on this phenomenon (of police harassing conscientious citizen-activists who are exercising their rights).
(end excerpt)
Article 19 of the UN's "superior" Declaration states, "Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers." And Article 20 states, "Everyone has the right to freedom of peaceful assembly and association."
And yet here is an activist, peacefully assembling and imparting information and ideas in front of the UN building itself ... and at the UN's request, he is harrassed and threatened until he is forced to leave. So much for human rights. Or the American Bill of Rights, for that matter. The First Amendment specifically states, "[Congress shall make no law] abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble..."
It should be stressed that the UN is not the only villian in this incident. An American, a New York City police officer, played the thug at the UN's behest. He bullied and intimidated another American -- one who was not breaking any laws -- in order to please his UN masters.
What kind of world can we expect if the UN's "Universal Declaration of Human Rights" supercedes the Bill of Rights? And what kind of world can we expect when our own countrymen put their pensions and welfare ahead of our Constitutionally guaranteed rights, turning against us to slavishly enforce the UN's demands?

9th Circuit endorses censoring Christians
ruling from the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has concluded that municipal employers have the right to censor the words "natural family," "marriage" and "family values" because that is hate speech and could scare workers.

Sheriff sees pattern in border agents' cases
A Texas sheriff says a 2001 case against another U.S. Border Patrol agent set the pattern that was used by U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton in his recent cases against Agents Jose Compean and Ignacio Ramos, who now are serving prison terms for shooting at a drug smuggler fleeing back into Mexico, as well as Deputy Sheriff Gilmer Hernandez.
Rocksprings, Texas, Sheriff Don Letsinger told WND in a telephone interview that the prosecution of David Sipe was "the smoking gun" showing how the U.S. Attorney's office handles evidence "to get prosecutions like U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton has gotten in the case of Ramos and Compean."
Sipe was convicted in 2001 for a situation near McAllen, Texas, when he was accused of using a metal flashlight to strike illegal alien coyote Jose Guevara on the back of his head after Guevara struggled and resisted arrest.
...
The charge was using "excessive force and causing bodily injury" in the confrontation during the early morning hours of April 5, 2000.
The case would ruin Sipe's career and marriage before it was over just a few weeks ago. A federal appeals court reversed his conviction and ordered a new trial because of prosecutorial misconduct, including withholding exculpatory information from the defense in violation of the Brady rule, and during a re-trial in January, Sipe was acquitted after deliberations of less than an hour.

My Rifle: The Creed of a United States Marine
Marine Corps Rifleman's Creed: (excerpt from Warrior Culture of the U.S. Marines, copyright 2001 Marion F. Sturkey)
In boot camp at Parris Island or San Diego, and in the Basic School at Quantico, no one escapes from the Rifleman's Creed. Every Marine is trained, first and foremost, as a rifleman, for it is the rifleman who must close with and destroy the enemy. The rifleman remains the most basic tenet of Marine Corps doctrine. All else revolves around him. Marine Aviation, Marine Armor, Marine Artillery, and all supporting arms and warfighting assets exist to support the rifleman. It is believed that MGen. William H. Rupertus, USMC, authored the creed shortly after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. It is commonly known as the Rifleman's Creed, but it has also been called "My Rifle: The Creed of a United States Marine." Every Marine must memorize this creed. And, every Marine must live by the creed.
This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me my rifle is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless. I must fire my rifle true. I must shoot straighter than the enemy who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will. My rifle and I know that what counts in war is not the rounds we fire, the noise of our burst, or the smoke we make. We know that it is the hits that count. We will hit.
My rifle is human, even as I am human, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strengths, its parts, its accessories, its sights and its barrel. I will keep my rifle clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready. We will become part of each other.
Before God I swear this creed. My rifle and I are the defenders of my country. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviors of my life.
So be it, until victory is America's and there is no enemy.

Feds seeking 7 years for another Texas cop
The federal government has recommended a seven-year prison term for Gilmer Hernandez, a Texas deputy sheriff who drew grass-roots support after he was convicted for violating the civil rights of a fleeing illegal alien, WND has learned.
In a case prosecuted by U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton in El Paso, who also led the high-profile prosecution of former Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean, Hernandez was charged after stopping a van full of illegals for running a stop sign April 14, 2005, in Rocksprings, Texas.
The driver attempted to run over Hernandez, prompting the officer to fire his weapon at the rear tires. A bullet fragment hit a Mexican national, Marciela Rodriguez Garcia, in the mouth, cutting her lip and breaking two teeth.
Hernandez's boss, Deputy Don Lettsinger, told WND he considers the sentencing guidelines severe, especially since he believes "Deputy Hernandez should never have been indicted for this incident in the first place."

Bank of America just tip of iceberg
Dozens of major United States banking institutions led by Bank of America are implementing a nationwide amnesty program for millions of illegal immigrants by accepting as valid identification Mexico's matricula consular cards, which are just a "laminated piece of paper," critics of the plan have charged.
The plan, which was outlined in a report by the Center for Immigration Studies four years ago, is gaining notoriety only now because of the Mexican government's specific goal of flying under the radar by working with local and area jurisdictions, instead of national leaders, according to the CIS report.
Headlines in the past few weeks on the issue have been dominated by plans by Bank of America to accept the consular cards to establish credit card accounts. Officials with Americans for Legal Immigration also have released a long list of American banking institutions that are moving down the same path. ...
Gheen told WND that his contention is that "What they're doing is either (a) against the law and this is another case of non-enforcement, which seems to be the reason for the illegal alien crisis, or (b) if we're wrong and banks have found a loophole, that loophole needs to be closed immediately."
"Aiding and abetting illegal aliens is a felony under federal law Section 8 USC 1324(a)(1)(A)(iv)(b)(iii). This law has a six year statute of limitations and companies currently violating these laws can be prosecuted up to six years in the future," according to Gheen's organization.
Gheen noted that the penalty for "aiding and abetting" illegal aliens is up to five years in prison, but if done for commercial profit, that increases to 10 years.

Time To Rein In The BATFE
Thursday, February 22, 2007
The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has been on a tear under the administration of Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez.
Manufacturers of various products have been told in writing that their products are not a firearm and that they can be marketed outside the federal paperwork system for selling firearms. Then, months or years later, BATFE sends another letter reversing the first determination.
The Congressional Research Service found in 2005 (ATF Firearms Procedures) that BATFE has no written procedures for determining what is a firearm. The "process" is arbitrary, and the string of reversals in recent months shows how capricious a BATFE determination is.
Historic Arms received a letter of determination in 1995 that its BM-3000 was not a firearm. Indeed, Historic Arms had designed the product as an accessory for a machine gun to fire different kinds of ammunition than the gun had originally been designed to fire. For 11 years, the company manufactured their product without incident. But in 1996, Historic Arms received a second letter determining that the product was actually a machine gun!
As in other cases, BATFE wanted all the company's products sent to Washington along with all the names of the customers who had purchased the item.
In 2004, the BATFE determined that the Akins Accelerator was a "non firearm" accessory that allowed a shooter to bump fire a semi-auto and considerably increase the rate of fire. This year, BATFE has determined that the trigger finger which is bumping the trigger is itself a machine gun! Again, send in all the product and customer names.
For years, Centerfire Systems had a parts kit that it sold for machine guns. Now, six years later, BATFE has reversed itself on this company. And, the Bureau has put Centerfire Systems through the same drill -- send in their products and their customer lists.
In a related matter involving the definition of what makes a gun a "gun," KT Ordnance was raided by BATFE last year and its products were confiscated. What were the dangerous items? A parts kit for customers to legally make their own (unregistered) firearm. Again, BATFE wanted the customer list.
The capricious activities by the BATFE wreck economic chaos on these companies, in addition to violating both theirs and their customers' rights protected by the Second Amendment.
It is time for the BATFE to put their procedures for determining what is a firearm, and what is a machine gun, in writing.
This latest bait and switch is but another backdoor effort on the part of the federal government to attack gun ownership. This time the attack is on manufacturers.
ACTION: Please contact Pres. Bush. If we do not restrain BATFE now, they will do immeasurable damage to the firearms industry in the United States.

---- Pre-written letter ----
Dear President Bush,
I am outraged that BATFE still has no written procedures for determining what is a firearm, and what is a machine gun. It has now been two years since the publication of ATF Firearms Procedures by the Congressional Research Service when they revealed that Firearms Technology Branch has no written procedures.
The Bureau has been in existence for over 30 years. How many prosecutions have put gun owners and manufacturers in jail based on shifting, arbitrary and capricious "exper"” testimony in court which is not based on written procedures?
When is the BATFE going to publish proposed written procedures for the public to comment on them? When is the Justice Department going to review the conviction of every gun owner and manufacturer where a BATFE "expert" testified against him?
Please have the BATFE take action on these problems right away.
Sincerely,
********

The Town the Law Forgot
The first sign of trouble for Cudahy City Council candidate Tony Mendoza was a pair of thong panties mailed to his wife, with a note telling her to watch her husband’s back. Then came the phone calls — and the death threats.
A political novice in a tiny city of Mexican immigrants that hasn’t had an election since 1999, Mendoza had expected dirty tricks. But to his dismay, the caller, who spoke poor English and called every day for three days, said Mendoza would be killed if he did not leave Cudahy, a 1.2-square-mile city 10 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles. After the third call, Mendoza pulled out of the March 6 race. “I have my family to think about,” he said.
Running for council seats against a slate of incumbents in a city infested with gangs and drugs, Danny Cota and Luis Garcia faced similar tactics. A truck owned by Garcia, a former city employee, was painted with graffiti, and ex-felon and Cudahy city employee Gerardo Vallejo sought a restraining order against Garcia for criminal threats. A judge tossed the complaint, but Garcia’s campaign was rattled....
Cudahy is a strange little city; some say a scary one. In 2003, city leaders fired the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department — which had policed Cudahy for 14 years, focusing on gang and drug crime — in favor of a nearby municipal police force that recently erupted over public allegations of police brutality and kickbacks to police and city officials from a towing company.
In Cudahy, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency has seized almost 20 times more cocaine over the past five years than in Bell, a bordering city of similar size, and the city suffers more crime per capita than small towns nearby. It’s a city with 200 active gang members, where shootings are common though homicide rare — that is, until 11 killings occurred in the wake of the sheriff’s departure in 2003...
