07/29/07 - Time to push National Park Carry Bill!
A few months ago pro-gun Congressman Ron Paul (TX-14) introduced a
bill that would prohibit any regulation barring carry in National
Parks!
The bill number is HR. 1897, the National Park Second Amendment
Restoration and Personal Protection Act of 2007.
--
ACTION ITEM
Currently there is only one cosponsor of the bill :-(
That cosponsor is none other than Virgil Goode, Jr. of Virginia (R-5)!
We need to get the word out so we can get a lot of cosponsors on this bill.
If your Congressman is Virgil Goode, contact him and thank him for
signing on to HR. 1897.
If your Congressman is NOT Virgil Goode, then you can contact them by

Suggested message:

I urge you to cosponsor and help move Congressman Ron Paul's bill HR. 1897!
HR. 1897 will allow law-abiding gun owners to be able to carry a
handgun for self-defense in a National Park.
The Department of the Interior has refused to seriously consider
changing their current regulations to allow citizens the right to
self-defense, even though crime is on the rise in National Parks.
Congress needs to act to protect the lives of innocent citizens.
Please let me know what you are going to do.

CHE GUEVARA: PC ICON
Che Guevara's image graces many a T-shirt worn in the US. Wearing one of these seems to be intended as a statement that it is good to be free of the crushing norms of a civilization tricked up by dead white men.
The T-shirt image depicts a long-haired 1960’s hippy gazing steadfastly into the future.
The truth is, Ernesto "Che" Guevara, the one-time number three in Fidel Castro's thugocracy, would have had a guy looking like Guevara's resemblance arrested and sent to a concentration camp known by their acronym: UMAP (Military Units for the Promotion of Production). Guevara was resolutely against rock and roll and its long-haired adherents. Long after his demise his grandson was rousted by the Cuban police for being a rocker.
Che is revered today as one who was above materialism, but he sure did not get that memo when he stole one of the largest mansions in Cuba. While he remained in Cuba, he lived and entertained in the lap of luxury.
As Minister of the Economy, Che drove Cuba into the ground. The country had been more prosperous than France, but in a short period of time, it became a place even fleeing Haitians avoided. This was not a failure in socialist terms. By impoverishing the whole country, the thugocracy ensured that there would be much less opportunity to oppose them.
The objective of Che and the Castro brothers was to monopolize power. In addition to bankrupting the country, gun confiscations were carried out the day after seizing power. As the Nazis before them in Germany, the Cuban communists used the gun registration lists of the prior government for rounding up privately owned guns.
As Lenin and Stalin before him (Che began his tenure in power signing his name as Stalin II), Che carried out executions on a daily basis. Even when there was a trial, the outcomes were not surprising the execution lists were posted before the trials would begin for the day. The names of the accused were the same as those on the execution lists. Che’s judicial philosophy was captured in this quote: "I don’t need proof to execute a man I only need proof that it's necessary to execute him." (cited in Exposing the Real Che Guevara by Humberto Fontova, p. xxiii)

RARER THAN RABIES: THE LEGACY OF MICHAEL NIFONG
So... do you merely trust your government officials?
===
Soon after prosecutor Michael Nifong was disbarred by the North Carolina Bar Association, the National District Attorneys Association issued its take on the case. “Nifong’s case is rarer than human rabies,” claimed Joshua Marquis, vice president of the group. “The defense bar is piling on and trying to claim this is typical behavior,” he bitterly complained.
So was Michael Nifong merely a “rogue” prosecutor, a feckless bad-apple amidst a scented orchard of ethical and civic-minded district attorneys?
You may remember the 1989 rape of the Central Park jogger and the accusation that five “wilding” teenagers had perpetrated the attack. But when the DNA test results did not match, the prosecutor had to claim the semen came from a sixth “mystery” member of the gang. Despite that dubious explanation, the five were convicted.
But 13 years later DNA evidence proved another man had committed the crime and the five were set free. Sorry about that, fellas.
Twenty-five years ago civil rights attorneys Barry Scheck and Peter Neufeld established the Innocence Project, a group dedicated to protecting the innocent through post-conviction DNA testing. Earlier this month the group registered its 205th exoneration, most of the cases involving false convictions of rape. Prosecutorial misconduct is a factor in 42% of DNA exonerations, they reveal. Child sexual abuse is another charge that juices up any prosecutor with political aspirations.
In 1994, the small town of Wenatchee, Wash. was seized by a wave of sex abuse hysteria. Parents and Sunday school teachers were accused of child rape. Over two years, 43 adults were arrested on 29,726 charges of sex abuse involving 60 children. [Read]
Not a scrap of physical evidence was presented to support the charges and some witnesses later recanted their testimony. But that didn’t keep 17 of the accused from going to jail. ...
Border agent says China ordered his prosecution
A Customs and Border Protection agent who was acquitted of a charge of using excessive force during a 2004 arrest of a Chinese national on suspicion of drug smuggling is suing the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for $25 million.
And in a companion lawsuit, Robert Rhodes is seeking another $25 million from three Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents with the Office of Professional Responsibility.
He says the agents disregarded their oaths by pursuing a politically motivated prosecution against him to appease their superiors, who allegedly were seeking to do what communist China wanted.
"I was involved in a political prosecution that our government began at the demand of the government of communist China," Rhodes told WND. "The prosecution was promised to China by then-Secretary of State Colin Powell and then-Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Tom Ridge." ...
Judge Orders Government to Pay $101.75M for Wrongful Convictions in 1965 Murder Case

Judge Orders Government to Pay $101.75M for Wrongful Convictions in 1965 Murder Case
Thursday, July 26, 2007
E-MAIL STORY PRINTER FRIENDLY VERSION
BOSTON — In a stinging rebuke of the FBI, a federal judge on Thursday ordered the government to pay a record judgment of nearly $102 million because agents withheld evidence that would have kept four men from spending decades in prison for a mob murder they did not commit.
Judge Nancy Gertner told a packed courtroom that agents were trying to protect informants when they encouraged a witness to lie, then withheld evidence they knew could prove the four men were not involved in the 1965 murder of Edward "Teddy" Deegan, a small-time thug shot in an alley.
Click here for FOXNews.com's Crime center.
Gertner said Boston FBI agents knew mob hitman Joseph "The Animal" Barboza lied when he named Joseph Salvati, Peter Limone, Henry Tameleo and Louis Greco as Deegan's killers. She said the FBI considered the four "collateral damage" in its war against the Mafia, the bureau's top priority in the 1960s.
Tameleo and Greco died behind bars, and Salvati and Limone spent three decades in prison before they were exonerated in 2001. Salvati, Limone and the families of the other men sued the federal government for malicious prosecution.
...Gertner said FBI agents Dennis Condon and H. Paul Rico not only withheld evidence of Barboza's lie, but told state prosecutors who were handling the Deegan murder investigation that they had checked out Barboza's story and it was true.
"The FBI's misconduct was clearly the sole cause of this conviction," the judge said.
The government had argued federal authorities had no duty to share information with state officials who prosecuted the men. Federal authorities cannot be held responsible for the results of a state prosecution, a Justice Department lawyer said.
Gertner rejected that argument.
"The government's position is, in a word, absurd," she said.

Some say schools giving Muslims special treatment
Some public schools and universities are granting Muslim requests for prayer times, prayer rooms and ritual foot baths, prompting a debate on whether Islam is being given preferential treatment over other religions.
The University of Michigan at Dearborn is planning to build foot baths for Muslim students who wash their feet before prayer. An elementary school in San Diego created an extra recess period for Muslim pupils to pray.
At George Mason University in Fairfax, Va., Muslim students using a "meditation space" laid out Muslim prayer rugs and separated men and women in accordance with their Islamic beliefs.

Christians would not get such treatment. This is not a nation based on Islam. One step at a time the enemy is destroying our country, culture, language, and borders.
BATFE TO RED'S: STOP EXPOSING US!
BATFE TO RED'S: STOP EXPOSING US!
We've been keeping our readers abreast of the trials endured by Red's Trading Post, Idaho's oldest gun shop, which has been targeted by the BATFE. You can read our previous updates on Red's (as well as links to news articles on this travesty) at www.jpfo.org/redstradingpost.htm or visit Red's own site at www.redstradingpost.com .
Despite having won an injuction to keep their business running, Red's is _still_ being harassed, seemingly because owner Ryan Horsley continues to speak publicly about the situation. On Tuesday of this week, David Codrea revealed in his "War on Guns" blog that BATFE agents "...had threatened [Ryan Horsley] that he needed to cease all blogging and keep their agents and inspectors free from being photographed or observed, or they would go to the judge and file a complaint of harassment."
You can read the blog and the complaint that the ATF subsequently filed against Horsley's exercise of the First Amendment here: http://waronguns.blogspot.com/2007/07/breaking-news-batfu-accuses-reds-of.html or http://tinyurl.com/2lv4ze .
We'd like to draw your attention especially to the line "...videotaping and photographing of ATF personnel is not disallowed by law or regulation; howevever, the use of those images ... are subject to certain restrictions." Considering the number of newsclips in which the ATF is featured bursting heroically into a houseful of alleged terrorists, those restrictions on video or photographs apparently only apply when they show the ATF in a bad light.
As desperately afraid the ATF is of having their firearms tests documented by videotape, one can hardly be surprised by this attitude.
We also found the following statement interesting: "[After an employee videotaped an inspection] Red's was notified that these images were not to be used _for any documentary_ or without the consent of the ATF." (emphasis ours). JPFO has produced two documentaries that show the BATFE in a bad light, _BATFE Fails the Test_ ( http://shop.jpfo.org/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=38 ) and _The Gang_ ( www.thegangmovie.com ). BATFE knows this, and knows that we've been closely monitoring the situation at Red's. Could this have been a ploy to prevent us from publicizing Red's case in a future documentary?
We urge you to read the complaint. The ATF wants to hide its dirty deeds -- it's up to us to expose them for what they are. Share the links with everyone you know, and remember: the more people who see _The Gang_, the sooner we can shut down this rogue agency.

Another Handbill to Mock Another Politician
In our continuing effort to "Humiliate and Repudiate" those politicians who support Nazi-based 'gun control' laws, JPFO proudly presents our latest handbill at www.jpfo.org/handbilldodd.jpg . In it Senator Christopher Dodd is shown under a headline that will no doubt lead to his indulging in plenty of back-pedaling, excuse-making, weasle-words and Washington double-speak!
"Humiliate and Repudiate" ( www.jpfo.org/alert20070711.htm ) is a guerrilla marketing campaign to reach out to gun owners quickly. It's easy for you to participate simply by passing along our handbills to everyone you know. And it's easy for others to get the message without having to dig through a lot of complex information. It's imperative you immediately download this handbill, so you can have it to use for years to come.
Our handbills are free for you to download and distribute for non-commercial purposes. You can view them all at www.jpfo.org/freebies.htm .

'Blog' puts fear into gun shop inspectors
A team of inspectors from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives fled an Idaho gun shop where they were inspecting sales records when they learned their actions were being recorded on a blog.
The federal agency and Red's Trading Post of Twin Falls, Idaho, have been disputing for six years already over the store's license to sell firearms, with regulators using rules infractions such as a missing poster to attack Red's business operations.
WND documented earlier how the store appears to be caught up in a new campaign for gun control, focusing on the elimination of retail outlets through technical rules infractions.
Now the federal agency has gone to court with a report that its inspectors "suspended" their work at the store recently because of the "threat to the inspectors' safety created by Ryan Horsley, the Manager of Red's."
Comment: the Nazis don't want their conduct recorded.
BATF - Jackboots -taking their photo deemed harassment
BREAKING NEWS: BATFU ACCUSES RED'S OF "HARASSMENT AND INTIMIDATION"
I've been sitting on some facts for a few days at the request of Ryan Horsley. BATFU had threatened him that he needed to cease all blogging and keep their agents and inspectors free from being photographed or observed, or they would go to the judge and file a complaint of harassment. Ryan was in a dilemma--he has been single-handedly bearing the burden of his defense against a fe(de)ral government with practically unlimited resources--yet if he continued to allow his persecutors to operate in the dark, that is where they would kill Red's.
The new complaint is calculated to be a death blow to Red's--both financially with additional legal expenses they cannot afford, and by giving the judge an excuse to side with thugs portraying themselves as victims.
Blogger doesn't give me the capability to present .pdf files, so I have converted the documents sent to the judge into jpegs:

Letters from Zimbabwe
Letters from Zimbabwe
Gun prohibitionists often laugh when told that the Second Amendment exists in part to ensure that citizens can fight their own government should it be necessary. "Nonsense," they scoff. "Maybe we needed that 200 years ago, but times are different now. Governments _help_ people."
Really?
Visit http://www.cathybuckle.com/july2007.shtml , which is a first-person account, present day, from Zimbabwe. Our book _Death by "Gun Control"_ ( www.jpfo.org/deathgc.htm ) has a chapter on Zimbabwe, in which we warned -- in 2001! -- about the consequences of citizen disarmament in that country. We also cover Zimbabwe in our documentary _Innocents Betrayed_ ( www.innocentsbetrayed.com ).
Our fears were well-placed. There doesn't have to be outright Nazi-style genocide for there to be massive oppression and suffering with government's consent and approval. This story also highlights what happens when government assumes command of the economy. Exactly what happened in the Soviet Union and in Red China is happening all over again in Zimbabwe.
People claim that humanity learned from those awful experiences. It hasn't. The UN, being a socialist enclave, does nothing about it. The US, cowed by political correctness, apparently has no comment.
So these poor folks suffer, starve and die, at the hands of the government that first disarmed them.
